Define the outcome first, check audience and subject-matter fit, put the work and rights in writing, plan disclosures, and measure the campaign against its stated goal.
How do I know if a brand deal is right for my followers?
Fit means the creator’s subject matter and audience align with the brand’s intended audience and campaign objective. The creator should be able to explain, in specific terms, why followers might value the product or service. YouTube advises creators to approach brands they believe in and think their audience will like, and to explain that connection when seeking a deal (YouTube Help: Tips for getting brand deals).
Before considering a specific creator or offer, answer these questions:
- Relevance: Does the creator already cover the topic in a way their audience understands?
- Audience overlap: Is there evidence that the creator reaches people the brand hopes to reach?
- Experience: If the content will be a personal endorsement, has the creator actually used or otherwise experienced the product?
- Format: Does the proposed format suit both the audience and the intended outcome?
- Evidence: Can the creator substantiate audience, performance, and product-experience claims?
There is no universal follower minimum or selection formula established by the cited sources. A large audience alone does not show relevance, and a creator’s enthusiasm alone does not establish that a product is right for followers. Assess the evidence against the campaign’s specific goal.

What should I put in a creator media kit?
A media kit gives a potential partner context for evaluating the channel and its audience. YouTube calls it “an essential tool for creators to secure brand partnerships and other monetization opportunities” and suggests including active subscribers, view counts, engagement, and demographic data (YouTube Help: Tips for getting brand deals).
Make the kit concise and dated so a brand can tell what the figures describe and when they were measured. A useful kit can include:
- Channel or platform, subject matter, and a short description of the audience.
- Relevant audience insights and performance figures, with the measurement period identified.
- Representative work that shows the creator’s style and how they cover related topics.
- Available formats and deliverables, such as a video, post, or livestream.
- A short explanation of why the creator wants to work with the brand and why the offer may appeal to the audience.
Keep performance claims factual. If a figure is a target rather than an observed result, label it as a goal. Avoid presenting an unsubstantiated sales promise as proof of fit.

How should we compare potential partners?
Compare candidates on the same dimensions rather than ranking them by follower count. The right emphasis depends on the campaign, but these questions help make the decision concrete:

- Campaign objective and intended audience.
- Creator rationale and the connection between the offer and audience.
- Format, deliverables, deadlines, and any review or revision process.
- Claims the content may make, along with any substantiation required for those claims.
- Call to action and the method for tracking it.
- Disclosure requirements and where they will appear.
- Usage rights, including duration and whether the brand may amplify or reuse the content.
- Success measures, reporting window, and tracking method.

How do I measure a creator partnership?
Choose measures that can reasonably indicate the outcome you selected. Awareness, traffic, engagement, sales, user actions, and content generation are different objectives; a single metric cannot demonstrate all of them. impact.com’s worksheet recommends defining objectives and KPIs before launch and lists measures such as impressions, engagement, app downloads, product sales, reach, store traffic, and return on ad spend as possible examples (impact.com: How to set up a successful influencer program).

Record the measurement window, platform or tracking method, and whether paid distribution contributed to the result. For example, reach or impressions may help assess exposure, while tracked visits or purchases may help assess response or sales. Choose the measure before launch and interpret it only as evidence for the objective it can address. An outcome occurring during a campaign does not, by itself, establish that creator content caused it.

impact.com’s separate 2023 infographic reports that 67% of more than 250 marketers surveyed in the United States and Canada who were involved in influencer-recruitment decisions said they were investing in creating more content with existing creator partners (impact.com: What brands want from content creators infographic). That is a finding from impact.com’s survey, not a universal market rate or a result any individual creator should expect.

For campaigns affecting the United States, the FTC says a material connection can include payment, free or discounted products, or other perks. Its plain-language guidance is that “your endorsement message should make it obvious when you have a relationship (‘material connection’) with the brand” (FTC: Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers).
Make the disclosure clear and conspicuous, place it with the endorsement, and use straightforward language. For video, include it in the video; for livestreams, repeat it periodically so viewers who join later see it. Do not rely only on a profile description, a buried caption, or a platform disclosure tool. The FTC’s Endorsement Guides were revised in June 2023; its guidance also says endorsements must be truthful and not misleading, and cautions against describing product experience the endorser did not have or making unsupported claims (FTC: Advertisement Endorsements; FTC: 2023 announcement on updated advertising guides). These are U.S. sources, not universal legal advice; check the rules that apply to the campaign’s geography and category.

Can creator programs help find suitable brand opportunities?
Programs can be a route to opportunities, but they do not replace the fit test or guarantee earnings. Amazon says eligible creators in its Influencer Program can use a storefront and shoppable content and earn commissions on qualifying purchases (Amazon: How to join the Amazon Influencer Program and earn money). Eligibility, geographic availability, and terms may change, so check the current official terms before relying on access or describing eligibility.
