Past bridge announcements do not guarantee that a route is available today.
Choose the right transfer method
World Chain is an Ethereum layer-2 network and the primary network used by World App. Legacy bridged WLD also exists on Optimism, according to World’s developer FAQ. The right route depends on where your asset is now:

- Legacy assets in World App on Optimism: use the app’s migration flow if it appears.
- Assets in another wallet or on another network: use a third-party bridge only after confirming its live route supports the token and direction you need.
- Receiving into World App: first check that World App supports that token on World Chain.
Migrate legacy World App assets from Optimism
World’s Help Center describes an in-app migration for legacy World App assets on Optimism. When World App presents the prompt, tap Start migration and follow the instructions. The Help Center says the migration takes minutes; actual completion can depend on the app’s current flow and network conditions.

If assets are sent to your Optimism account after you have migrated, World says they can be migrated when the app presents the flow again. For future World App transactions, its guidance is to use World Chain.

Bridge an asset using a third-party service
- Identify the source. Confirm the network and wallet holding the asset. A transfer from another wallet or chain is a general bridge transaction, not the Optimism migration flow in World App.
- Select the route in the bridge’s current interface. Set the source network, World Chain as the destination, the token and the direction. World has previously named Synapse, Across and Superbridge in connection with World Chain, but dated announcements do not establish that a route remains active.
- Confirm exact token and direction support. World’s October 2024 announcement said Synapse supported USDC bridging and fast WLD transfers to and from World Chain at that time. A November 2024 announcement described Across as supporting inbound ETH, wETH, USDC and wBTC from other chains to World Chain; it did not establish outbound routes for those assets. Check current availability with the provider rather than assuming those announced routes still work.
- Check the receiving wallet. Make sure it can receive the exact token on World Chain. In World App, the Help Center’s instructions are to choose Receive, select the token, then select World Chain to display a receiving QR code or address. Use only assets supported by the receiving wallet; World warns that an unsupported token or incorrect network may result in permanent loss.
- Review the quote and transaction details. Check the total displayed cost, any minimum or maximum, the estimated completion time, destination, token and amount before approving. These details can vary by provider and route; there is no universal bridge fee or completion time.
World’s announcement about its Morpho Mini App points to Superbridge and Across as examples of third-party routes to World Chain. It also says World does not endorse external links and is not responsible for them. Treat a provider name mentioned by World as a lead to verify, not as a guarantee or endorsement of a current service.
Bridge WLD back to Ethereum
World’s tokenomics whitepaper says WLD is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and identifies a World Chain representation. It states that users may bridge back to Ethereum through the OP Stack Superbridge. Confirm that Superbridge’s current interface supports the exact WLD route before proceeding.

These are identifiers published in the whitepaper, not a substitute for checking the token and network against a trusted, current explorer or the bridge interface. Ticker text alone is not enough to establish token identity.
What to check before approving a bridge
- Route: source network, destination network, asset and transfer direction all match your intended move.
- Token identity: verify the contract and network, especially for WLD or bridged versions of a token.
- Receiving support: confirm the destination wallet accepts that asset on World Chain.
- Quote: review the total cost, limits and estimated time shown for this specific transfer.
- Transaction details: check the destination, token and amount carefully. World says blockchain transactions are irreversible, so a mistaken transfer may not be recoverable.
- Provider risk: World’s whitepaper warns about third-party bridge risks and says the Foundation and affiliates are not responsible for third-party bridges or tokens bridged through them.
World’s developer FAQ describes gas sponsorship for certain World App actions and notes that this may change. That does not establish the fees for an independent bridge: rely on the costs displayed by the bridge for your specific transaction.
