OJK says it has never authorized online gambling. This guide is therefore about spotting misleading claims, limiting financial and identity exposure, and finding official help—not recommending a gambling operator.
Can you verify an online lottery site as trusted through OJK?
No. OJK’s September 23, 2023 notice states, “OJK tidak pernah memberikan izin kepada judi online” (“OJK has never granted authorization to online gambling”). A site’s claim that it is “licensed by OJK,” “guaranteed by OJK,” or otherwise approved by the regulator is not evidence of authorization. Check claims through OJK’s notice and official OJK channels, not through links or contact details supplied by the site.
OJK’s guidance for checking whether a financial service is legal should not be confused with approval of an online lottery operator. The regulator explicitly says it does not authorize online gambling; a general financial-services check cannot establish that a gambling site is licensed.
Why a reachable site or positive review is not proof of safety
Access can persist even as authorities work to restrict gambling content and associated financial channels. In a July 14, 2026 release, OJK said it, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), and banks were strengthening measures against scams and online gambling. The release reported that Komdigi had handled more than 3.7 million online-gambling contents by July 2026. That is an enforcement count of content, not a count of unique sites and not evidence that any particular site is safe.

The same release reported 32,454 accounts blocked after Enhanced Due Diligence as of May 2026, and a 260.03 percent increase in suspicious transaction reports involving alleged gambling crimes in 2025, as reported by the Indonesian banking industry. Neither figure measures the risk posed by an individual site. The figures describe broader enforcement and reporting activity, not a safety rating.
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid said in the OJK release that enforcement must address the wider ecosystem, including accounts used to circulate funds, rather than stopping at access bans. That is another reason that a site remaining accessible—or displaying testimonials, badges, or claims of successful payouts—cannot substitute for official verification.

How to assess a site’s claims and reduce exposure
These checks can help you recognize weak evidence and avoid handing sensitive information or money to an unverified operator. They do not certify a gambling site as lawful or safe.

A site’s marketing, testimonials, and continued availability are not regulator verification. Do not use them to infer that deposits will be returned, winnings will be paid, or personal information will be protected.

Where to report a suspected scam in Indonesia
- Stop sharing information and sending money. Do not provide additional identity or bank-account details, OTPs, or passwords. Avoid links in unsolicited messages or social-media posts.
- For a suspected financial scam, use IASC. OJK’s May 26, 2026 Satgas PASTI release directs the public to iasc.ojk.go.id for scam reports. Follow the current instructions there and verify the route on OJK’s live site.
- For suspected illegal financial activity, use Satgas PASTI’s channel. The same release gives sipasti.ojk.go.id. Check OJK’s current guidance before submitting information.
- Keep relevant records. Preserve messages, payment confirmations, and other information about the incident so you can follow the official reporting process.
OJK’s release reported that, from November 22, 2024 through March 31, 2026, IASC received 515,345 reports; 872,395 reported accounts were verified, 460,270 accounts were blocked, about Rp585.4 billion in victim funds was blocked, and Rp169 billion was returned. These are scam-response figures across the IASC context, not results specific to online gambling reports or a promise that a particular loss will be recovered.

Komdigi’s registry lists Ministerial Circular No. 7 of 2024, dated June 26, 2024, as in force. Its title concerns the eradication of online gambling and/or slot gambling within the ministry. The registry entry is a circular record, not a complete explanation of Indonesian gambling law. The official information cited here supports a consumer-protection warning, but it does not provide a complete account of how every lottery format is treated or what penalties may apply.
