You can’t add a checking or savings account directly to Apple Pay as a payment method. For in-store, app, or web purchases, add an eligible debit or credit card to Wallet. To transfer money from Apple Cash to a bank, add the account in Apple Cash’s transfer flow; to pay an Apple Card bill, add it in Apple Card’s account settings.

Add a bank account for Apple Cash transfers
This links an eligible U.S. account for moving money out of your Apple Cash balance. You add it during the transfer process, not from Wallet’s general card-add screen.

- Open Wallet and tap your Apple Cash card.
- Tap More (…), then Transfer to Bank.
- Enter the amount and tap Next.
- Select 1–3 Business Days.
- If no account is listed, tap Add A Bank Account.
- Enter the bank’s routing number and account number. Re-enter both when prompted, then tap Next.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Apple says a standard bank transfer generally takes 1–3 business days and has no Apple fee. The transfer destination must be an eligible U.S. bank account. Apple Cash is provided by Green Dot Bank; Apple Payments Services LLC is not a bank. Apple Cash availability and eligibility are U.S.-specific, including U.S. states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico; full functionality generally requires a U.S. resident age 18 or older, with separate rules for Apple Cash Family. Change or remove the Apple Cash bank account
- In Wallet, tap Apple Cash, then More (…).
- Tap Card Details, scroll to Bank Account, and select the listed account.
- Edit the routing or account information, confirm it, and tap Next. To remove the account, tap Delete Bank Account Information and confirm.
Apple says changes sync to other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Check the numbers carefully: incorrect bank details can send money to the wrong account and make recovery difficult. Apple Cash account management.

Add a bank account for Apple Card payments
This setting is for paying your Apple Card balance; it does not make the bank account an Apple Pay checkout method.
- Open Wallet and tap Apple Card.
- Tap More (…), then Account Details.
- Scroll to Bank Accounts and tap Add Bank Account or Add Another Bank Account.
- Enter and confirm the routing and account numbers, then tap Save.
You can store multiple accounts; the first one added becomes the default. Cancel scheduled payments before removing an account. You can also manage Apple Card bank accounts at card.apple.com, under Settings → Bank Accounts. Apple Card bank account instructions.

Use your checking account for Apple Pay purchases
If you want purchases to draw on a checking account, add the account’s eligible debit card to Wallet. That adds the card, not the underlying bank account, and the issuer may require verification.
- Open Wallet and tap the Add (+) button.
- Choose Debit or Credit Card.
- Scan the card or enter its details manually, then follow the issuer’s verification prompts.

Add money to Apple Cash
If you meant moving money from a bank into Apple Cash, the documented funding method is a supported U.S. debit card or certain prepaid cards already added to Wallet. Credit cards and gift cards cannot be used, and some prepaid cards are ineligible. Apple Cash funding rules.
- Open Wallet and tap Apple Cash.
- Tap More (…), then Add Money.
- Enter at least $10, tap Add, and authenticate.

Apple’s published limits may be reduced or otherwise restricted for security reasons. For adding money to Apple Cash, the minimum transaction is $10; the maximum is $10,000 per transaction and $10,000 over seven days. Apple Cash limits.

Troubleshoot a missing option or delayed transfer
“Add A Bank Account” is missing
- Open the Apple Cash card itself and follow More → Transfer to Bank → 1–3 Business Days; the option is in that transfer flow, not the regular Wallet card-add screen.
- Check that Apple Cash is set up and available on your account. If prompted, complete identity verification; Apple explains verification requirements here.
- Update iOS or iPadOS, then check that the destination account is U.S.-based and that the account and routing numbers are correct. Apple recommends current software when troubleshooting transfers. Apple Cash transfer guidance.
A transfer fails or does not arrive
- Recheck the account and routing numbers and confirm the bank account is eligible.
- Check the applicable Apple Cash limits and whether a security review or account restriction is affecting the transfer.
- If a standard bank transfer has not arrived after more than three business days, contact an Apple Cash Specialist. If an Instant Transfer has not arrived after more than two hours, contact an Apple Cash Specialist. Apple’s transfer support guidance.
You want to transfer to a credit card
Instant Transfer requires an eligible debit card; a credit card is not a supported substitute destination. Apple Cash transfer options.
You are outside the United States
The Apple Cash bank-transfer steps and eligibility described here apply to the U.S.; Apple Pay card support varies by country, issuer, and card. Check Apple’s Apple Cash availability information for your location.
