To activate a personalized Spendwell debit card that arrived by mail, sign in at myspendwell.com/activate, find the card activation notification, and select ACTIVATE. If you cannot use the website, call 1-833-609-8472 and follow the prompts.
If you bought a temporary Spendwell card at Dollar General, start by registering it at myspendwell.com/go. That registration is separate from activating the personalized card mailed afterward.
Activate a personalized Spendwell card online
- Go to myspendwell.com/activate and sign in to the Spendwell account associated with your card.
- Find the card activation notification and select ACTIVATE. If it is not visible, use the arrow to scroll past the first notification and look for the activation notice.
- Follow the prompts shown in your account. Spendwell’s agreement says registration includes identity-verification information and setting a card PIN, but the exact on-screen sequence may vary by account.
If the online route is unavailable, call 1-833-609-8472 and follow the automated prompts.
If you bought a temporary card at Dollar General
Register the temporary card at myspendwell.com/go to access the full account features. Spendwell says it mails a personalized debit card to the address you provide. When that personalized card arrives, activate it separately using the online or phone steps above.

What to do after activation
- Set a PIN before using an ATM. Spendwell’s account-use FAQ says you must receive and activate the personalized card and set a PIN before ATM withdrawals.
- Add the personalized card to a digital wallet if you want. Spendwell’s FAQ says the personalized debit card can be added to a digital wallet.
- Expect a virtual card to stop working when the physical card is activated. The current No Monthly Fee account agreement says a temporary virtual card, if issued after online account opening and identity verification, expires and can no longer be used once the personalized physical card is activated. Check the agreement for your specific account type.
If you are activating a replacement card
Spendwell says the old card will no longer work once the new card is activated. Make sure you have the replacement card before completing activation.

These are terms for that account agreement, not activation charges or terms for every Spendwell account. Review the current agreement for your account type and any applicable transaction fees.
