To activate a new Cash App Card, open Cash App and scan the QR code on the physical card, then follow the prompts. The card must be activated before you can use it. If you have not already created a PIN in the app, you will be prompted to choose one during activation.
Activate your Cash App Card
- Get the physical card and sign in. Use the Cash App account associated with the card.
- Open Cash App and scan the card’s QR code. Cash App’s card guide says to scan the QR code printed on the card when it arrives: Cash App Card activation guide.
- Follow the app’s instructions. The card agreement requires activation using the directions Cash App provides before the physical card can be used. Screen labels and prompts may vary.
- Choose a PIN if prompted. The Visa Debit Flex Card agreement says you will be prompted to select a PIN during activation if you have not already created one in the app. Keep your PIN private; do not write it on the card or store it with the card.
If activation does not work
Use Cash App’s in-app support rather than a third-party activation number. Open your profile, tap Support, and contact Support. Cash App’s U.S. Terms of Service list 1-800-969-1940 as its only customer support phone number: Cash App U.S. Terms of Service. The terms also warn that a Cash App representative will never ask for your password, PIN, or full debit card number.
Cash App’s published instructions do not document fixes for specific activation errors, so avoid guessing at workarounds or sharing sensitive information with anyone claiming they can activate the card for you.
