To open Facebook Marketplace, use your main Facebook profile, an active account, and a supported country. On a computer, go to Feed → Marketplace. In the Android or iPhone app, open Facebook’s menu and select Marketplace; the icon’s location can vary by device and app layout.

Who can use Marketplace
Access depends on more than installing the app. Facebook’s eligibility guidance says:
- In the United States, you must be an adult—Facebook gives 18 or older as the example—and live in a country where Marketplace is available.
- Your Facebook account must be active. Facebook may restrict access for a new or inactive account, but it does not publish a universal waiting period.
- Marketplace is available only from your main profile, meaning the first profile created on Facebook. Additional profiles cannot use Marketplace.
- Facebook can remove or restrict access for violations of its Terms of Service, Commerce Policies or other policies.
See Facebook’s current Marketplace eligibility guidance for country-specific availability. Facebook does not state that a particular account age, number of friends, posting history, payment method or phone-number verification is universally required. It also does not publish a single app-version number or operating-system minimum for Marketplace.

If Marketplace is missing
Switch back to your main profile
If you are using an additional Facebook profile, switch to the main profile. Creating or switching between additional profiles is not a workaround for Marketplace access; Facebook says Marketplace is not available on those profiles.
Complete age verification
An adult may still be asked to verify age. Start in Marketplace in the Facebook mobile app and follow the on-screen instructions. Depending on your region, Facebook may offer a video selfie, a valid form of identification, or another verification method. After Facebook confirms that you meet the applicable legal age, access should be restored. Instructions are documented in Facebook’s eligibility help and mobile-app help.

Refresh Facebook after approval
Once access is restored, refresh facebook.com or download the latest version of the Facebook app. Facebook specifically recommends these steps when Marketplace does not immediately reappear.
Check policy or listing restrictions
Facebook may remove access after a policy decision. If a listing displays “There are issues with your product”, Facebook says it was not approved because it conflicts with its policies. If you believe the item complies, submit Facebook’s Marketplace item appeal form.

What you can list
Marketplace is designed for consumers to discover, buy and sell physical items. Facebook says businesses listing on Marketplace may be blocked or have listings removed. Listings must follow the Commerce Policies and Community Standards.
Examples of prohibited listing types include:
- Services
- Animals or animal products
- Healthcare products
- Recalled products
- Non-item posts, including “in search of” requests, lost-and-found posts, jokes and news posts

For an ordinary desktop Marketplace purchase, open Feed → Marketplace, select an item, then choose one of the contact options:

The exact transaction features depend on location. Checkout and delivery are not universal Marketplace capabilities; Facebook says checkout-related functionality may be unavailable in countries located in Europe.
