Use the official SBA Loan Portal at lending.sba.gov to check balances and due dates or make eligible payments. It covers only specified SBA loans and servicing statuses, so first confirm that your loan qualifies; then sign in with an existing CAFS or VetCert account or register for a new one.

1. Check whether your loan is covered

The SBA Loan Portal supports servicing for the following loans and statuses:

  • COVID-19 Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) and disaster loans.
  • Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans only when the SBA has purchased the guaranty.
  • 7(a) loans only when the SBA has purchased the guaranty and services the loan.
  • 504 loans only when the SBA has purchased the debenture.

If your loan is not on this list, contact your lending institution. These eligibility limits are important: a loan being SBA-backed does not by itself mean that you can manage it in this portal. See the SBA’s payment and loan-servicing instructions.

2. Open the official portal and sign in or register

  1. Go to https://lending.sba.gov/. This is the SBA borrower portal for the covered servicing tasks described here; it is distinct from other CAFS functions and the closed COVID-19 EIDL application portal.
  2. If you already have a CAFS or VetCert account, try those credentials. If you have neither, register for a new SBA Loan Portal account and follow the portal’s prompts.
  3. Enter your username and password, accept the disclosures, and select Sign In.

COVID-19 EIDL RAPID credentials do not work for the Loan Portal. The SBA says the RAPID application portal is closed. For nonprofit businesses and loans not registered with an SSN, the SBA borrower guide says an additional step is needed to associate an SSN with the loan before account creation. The separate COVID-19 EIDL EIN borrower instructions contain the details; do not assume the standard registration flow applies.

3. Locate your loan and account information

After signing in, look for your loan in the portal. The SBA says existing portal users can find their loan number after login. If you have not created an account, the loan number is in the upper-left area of the Note and Loan Authorization and Agreement. It is not the application number.

For covered loans, the portal lets you view loan balances, payment due dates, and statements. SBA borrower guidance says accounts are deactivated after 90 days of inactivity; the captured guidance does not specify a complete restoration process.

4. Make a payment if your loan is eligible

For a loan covered by the SBA’s online payment flow, the portal’s path is:

  1. From the home screen, open the Loan section.
  2. Select Action beside the relevant loan.
  3. Choose Payments, then Make payment.
  4. Review the payment information and confirm it.

The SBA offers one-time and recurring payments, but available payment types and methods depend on the loan. Its payment page says one-time online payments may use a bank account, debit card, or PayPal; recurring payments may use a bank account or debit card. Check the loan-specific rules on the SBA payment page before submitting.

Starting October 1, 2025, the SBA accepts only electronic payments; checks sent after that date will be returned. The page also gives phone-payment instructions for certain loan types, so check the instructions that apply to your loan rather than assuming every loan has the same payment options.

5. Choose the right help channel

Match the contact to the problem. SBA’s technical portal team can help with portal access but cannot access individual loan information.

6. Check browser compatibility

The SBA borrower overview recommends using a computer and lists Chrome 90+ or Edge 90+ on Windows, and Firefox 88+ on macOS. The live portal compatibility page lists different minimum versions: Chrome 84+, Firefox 75+, Edge 84+, or Safari 14.1+ on desktop; for mobile it lists Chrome 84+, Safari 14.5+, and Samsung Internet 14+. Because the two official pages differ, use the live portal’s compatibility notice for your device rather than treating the borrower overview’s list as definitive. See the SBA Loan Portal for the current notice.
