A long-range, dual-motor Tesla Model 3 was reported at 420,314 miles in an April 2024 video by The Electric Viking. That is a striking odometer reading, but it is a dated report—not a current mileage check, a verified world record, or evidence that most Model 3s will last as long.
What the report says about this Model 3
Secondary coverage identifies the car as a long-range, dual-motor Model 3 and attributes the 420,314-mile figure to The Electric Viking’s April 2024 video. Supercar Blondie’s account reports that the car still had its original battery pack and that the owner had replaced its brake pads.
Those details describe what was reported about the car; they are not a third-party inspection or a complete, independently audited service history. Yahoo Tech says it could not confirm the car’s current mileage, so the April 2024 figure should not be presented as the car’s odometer reading today. Yahoo Tech’s report likewise does not establish a current record.
What the mileage does—and does not—tell you
An odometer reading measures distance traveled, not the condition of the battery, motors, or the rest of the vehicle. The report that the original battery pack remained installed does not show how much usable capacity it retained: the sources do not provide an independent battery-health test. Nor does a report of brake-pad replacement establish that no other repairs or maintenance occurred.

This is an exceptional individual example, not a representative lifespan statistic. The sources do not establish how long Model 3 batteries or vehicles typically last, and this one car cannot predict the costs or service life another owner should expect.
How to assess a high-mileage electric car
For a buyer comparing high-mileage EVs—or an owner estimating long-term costs—mileage alone is not enough. Look for evidence that lets you compare the cars on the same basis:

- Observation date and mileage: establish when the odometer was recorded rather than treating an old report as current.
- Year and configuration: compare the model year, trim, and drivetrain, not just the badge.
- Original components: verify whether the battery pack and drive units are original or have been replaced.
- Battery condition: seek a measured usable-capacity or battery-health result; an original pack is not itself a health measurement.
- Service documentation: review repair records and replaced parts rather than relying on a brief account of selected maintenance.
- Use and charging history: consider duty cycle and charging pattern, which are relevant context when interpreting wear.
- Verification: distinguish a reported claim from an independently inspected vehicle and documented history.
Routine maintenance and warranty are separate questions
Tesla’s Model 3 maintenance guidance covers routine items such as tire rotation, brake-fluid checks, and cabin air-filter replacement. The applicable schedule and instructions can depend on the vehicle and market, so owners should consult Tesla’s current guidance for their own car. Tesla Model 3 Owner’s Manual: Maintenance.
Battery and drive-unit warranty limits are coverage terms, not a forecast of when those components will fail or how long they will last. Tesla’s terms vary by configuration and market; check the applicable warranty for the specific vehicle. Tesla Vehicle Warranty.
