Link your registered Triangle Rewards and Tims Rewards accounts before you buy. The advertised maximum is up to 5% in CT Money, but reaching it requires specific payment and app behavior—and the rates use different spending bases.
How the CT Money earning rates work
The maximum combines three earn components. The first applies when you scan Tims Rewards or order in the Tims app; the other two require a Triangle credit card. The rates apply only to eligible purchases at participating locations.

These components are not a flat 5% rebate on every dollar. Two are calculated on eligible pre-tax spending, while the 2% card-payment component is based on the post-tax total. The top advertised rate requires using a Triangle credit card as the payment method for Tims app Scan & Pay, alongside the linked accounts and eligible-purchase rules. How to link Triangle Rewards and Tims Rewards
- Register for both Triangle Rewards and Tims Rewards if you have not already done so.
- Use the account-linking process on the Triangle Rewards Tim Hortons partner page and follow its prompts to connect the accounts.
- Wait for confirmation that linking is complete. The partner FAQ says CT Money earning starts after the link is complete and confirmation is received.
- At a participating Tim Hortons, scan Tims Rewards or order in the Tims app to earn the base CT Money component. For the higher card-based components, pay with a Triangle credit card; for the additional 1%, use it for Tims app Scan & Pay.
Eligibility terms require an individual to reside in Canada, make the purchase in Canada, have reached the age of majority in their province or territory, and be in good standing in both programs. Check the current partner terms for the full conditions.

Which purchases and locations qualify?
Not every Tim Hortons restaurant or item is included. The Triangle partner FAQ names catering orders, Smile Cookies, bottled drinks, specialty items, and merchandise as examples of excluded purchases. Select hospital, airport, and university locations may not participate. These examples are not an exhaustive eligibility list: the current Tims Rewards terms govern what qualifies. Review the partner page and its linked terms if a particular purchase or location matters to you.
Are Tims Rewards and Triangle Rewards now one program?
No. Linking accounts adds a CT Money benefit to eligible Tim Hortons purchases; it does not merge the programs or combine their balances. You continue to earn Tims Rewards points, and those points remain governed by Tims Rewards terms. CT Money remains governed by Triangle Rewards terms.
The currencies cannot be converted into one another. CT Money can be redeemed on eligible purchases at Canadian Tire Corporation retail banners, while Tims Rewards points are redeemed at participating Tim Hortons restaurants. CT Money cannot be redeemed at Tim Hortons. The current Canadian Tire Rewards page and linked-loyalty terms explain the program rules.
What account information is shared?
According to the Triangle partner page, linking involves sharing information such as account and linkage identifiers, linkage status, eligible transaction and reward-earning details, timestamps, and related account-administration information. The companies say this information is used as reasonably necessary to administer the benefit and related services; each company applies its own privacy policy. The loyalty benefit launched on September 2, 2026. That is distinct from the companies’ September 2025 announcement that the partnership was expected later in 2026. The launch announcement reported more than 12 million Triangle Rewards members and almost 8 million Tims Rewards members; those were company-reported figures, not independently audited counts. Tim Hortons’ partnership overview was updated August 24, 2026.
