Mainly through recurring broadband subscriptions, supplemented by customer hardware sales and connectivity contracts for businesses and government users. In 2025, consumer subscribers generated more than 60% of SpaceX’s Connectivity segment revenue. That is a segment figure—not a complete Starlink-only income statement or a full breakdown of every revenue stream.
Starlink’s main revenue streams
SpaceX describes Starlink’s revenue within its Connectivity segment. Its business model combines recurring service fees with hardware transactions and specialized connectivity for organizations. The company has not disclosed an exact revenue split across all those categories.
| Revenue stream | How it works | What is established |
|---|---|---|
| Consumer broadband | Subscribers pay recurring fees for service. | Consumer subscribers generated more than 60% of Connectivity segment revenue in 2025, according to SpaceX’s 2026 SEC-filed disclosure. Source |
| Kits and user terminals | Customers need physical equipment to connect to the satellite network. | SpaceX discusses Starlink kits, terminal production and development costs for kits and ground equipment. A universal kit model or price is not stated in the cited disclosures. Source |
| Enterprise and government connectivity | Organizations buy managed connectivity under contracts that may reflect subscriptions, data use, capacity or other terms. | SpaceX identifies aviation, maritime, land mobility, fixed sites and government customers; it does not publish one universal enterprise price. Source |
Households pay for service—and need the hardware
The consumer model centers on monthly broadband subscriptions. SpaceX says fees vary by geographic market and download speed, so a price advertised in one country or for one plan should not be treated as a global or permanent rate. Current local plan details and equipment availability should be checked with Starlink before purchase.
The terminal and related kit are a separate physical part of getting online, distinct from the recurring service. SpaceX reports investment in Starlink kits and ground equipment and describes producing user terminals within its vertically integrated supply chain. The available disclosures do not establish a single kit bundle, generation or price for all customers.

Businesses and governments buy specialized connectivity
Starlink also serves customers whose connectivity needs differ from a household broadband plan. SpaceX names aviation, maritime, land mobility, fixed sites and government entities among its managed enterprise and government customers. Contracts can be structured around subscriptions, data consumption, capacity or other negotiated terms; published consumer plan prices are not a reliable guide to those contracts.
Aviation, maritime and mobile use
Aircraft, vessels and mobile operations can require service plans designed for use in transit or in specialized environments. Starlink’s aviation support page is one official example of recurring monthly plans, but the displayed terms and prices depend on the service and market and may change. Starlink aviation monthly fees

- Gen 3 Satellite Dish: Third-generation antenna delivers a stronger, more stable signal and faster performance.
- Wi-Fi 6 Router: Modern router technology supports faster speeds, increased device capacity, and better efficiency.
- Extra 150FT Cable Included: Extended reach for more flexible installation in large spaces or hard-to-access locations.
- High-Speed, Low-Latency Internet: Stream HD content, video conference, or work remotely with confidence.
- Ideal for Rural and Remote Areas: Perfect for homes, cabins, RVs, boats, and off-grid setups where wired internet isn’t available.
Fixed sites and government
Remote facilities and government customers may buy managed connectivity suited to their location or operational requirements. SpaceX reports growth in aviation, maritime and other enterprise revenue, while government connectivity revenue was lower in its first-quarter 2026 comparison. The disclosure does not provide an exact standalone revenue share for any of these customer categories.
Subscriber growth does not guarantee higher revenue per customer
For the three months ended March 31, 2026, SpaceX reported Starlink Subscriber growth of 104.7% year over year alongside a 22.9% year-over-year decline in Starlink Subscriber ARPU, or average revenue per user. SpaceX attributed the ARPU decline primarily to international expansion and the addition of lower-priced plans. These figures indicate that the subscriber base grew while its average revenue mix changed; they do not mean every customer’s bill fell by 22.9%.

Revenue depends on more than the number of accounts. Market mix, plan prices, customer usage and enterprise demand all matter. In the first-quarter 2026 comparison, SpaceX said consumer revenue growth reflected a sharp increase in subscribers despite lower ARPU, and also cited increased aviation, maritime and other enterprise revenue, partly offset by lower government connectivity revenue. Revenue is not the same as profit
SpaceX reported Connectivity segment operating income of $4.423 billion in 2025, up from $2.006 billion in 2024 and $469 million in 2023. These are operating-income figures for the Connectivity segment, not net profit and not a standalone Starlink income statement. SpaceX also reported $7.168 billion in Connectivity Adjusted EBITDA for 2025; the prospectus identifies Adjusted EBITDA as a non-U.S. GAAP measure, so it should not be read as profit after all expenses. What costs Starlink’s revenue has to cover
Operating a satellite internet network requires substantial investment and ongoing service costs. SpaceX attributes Connectivity costs and expenses to several parts of the operation:
- Satellites and launches: depreciation of capitalized launch and satellite costs as the network is built and operated.
- Ground operations: costs associated with ground infrastructure and network operations.
- Customer service and delivery: customer support, installation, freight and warranty costs.
- Payment processing: fees associated with collecting customer payments.
- Growth and development: marketing, international expansion and research and development for next-generation satellites, kits and ground equipment.
In the first quarter of 2026, depreciation from capitalized launch and satellite costs increased by $276 million compared with the first quarter of 2025. In the same comparison, operating expenses rose by $140 million, including increases of $50 million in ground operating costs, $42 million in customer support and installation, $19 million in payment processor fees, $15 million in freight and $12 million in warranty costs, according to SpaceX. These are year-over-year changes for that quarter, not annual costs or a per-subscriber cost estimate. SpaceX prospectus, June 5, 2026

What the public figures do—and do not—show
The available disclosures show that consumer subscriptions are the largest stated revenue source, while hardware and organizational contracts add other ways to monetize the network. They also show that rising subscriber numbers can coincide with lower average revenue per user and that satellite depreciation and other operating costs influence the segment’s results.
