Wemade is positioning WEMIX PLAY as a distribution and services platform for blockchain games—not as a proven equivalent to Steam. Its pitch is to pair games with tokenized assets that can be traded and, in some cases, used across games. The available evidence shows the company’s ambition and examples of how the model is being implemented, but does not establish Steam-like catalogue breadth, user engagement, or sustainable game economies.
What is WEMIX PLAY?
WEMIX PLAY is WEMADE’s platform for blockchain games, including play-and-earn (P&E) titles. It sits within WEMIX 3.0, which WEMIX describes as a broader, service-oriented blockchain ecosystem. The WEMIX 3.0 white paper frames that ecosystem as “experience-based, platform-driven, and service-oriented” and identifies WEMIX PLAY as its P&E games platform. Those descriptions express the project’s own framing, not an independent assessment of its reach.
WEMADE describes WEMIX PLAY as a unified platform in which game assets and value can move between titles. The company says players can trade some game-earned assets for cryptocurrency and that assets earned in one game may have uses in another. These are company-stated product capabilities; the available examples do not establish that cross-game use is widespread, that assets are liquid, or that a game’s token economy is economically sustainable.
How the platform’s token and commerce model works
WEMIX PLAY’s proposition combines game distribution with tokenized digital assets and commerce. Instead of treating every game as a closed economy, WEMADE says the platform can connect in-game assets to crypto trading and, potentially, to other games. That may give a game another way to reward players or sell digital goods, but it also makes the player experience dependent on each title’s rules, available storefronts, and conversion mechanisms.

A WEMADE announcement about Hellsquad Rrrush!: Stone Rush illustrates one implementation. The LightCON-developed title launched on WEMIX PLAY in September 2026. WEMADE said it would offer three exclusive webshops where users could spend PLAY tokens, AMBER tokens, and WEMIX coins, as well as a HELLSTONE-to-WEMIX conversion mechanism. The underlying Hellsquad Rrrush! game had surpassed one million downloads since July 2025, according to the company’s September 29, 2026 announcement. This is one title’s setup, not evidence that every WEMIX PLAY game has the same tokens, shops, or conversion options.
Why Wemade wants games beyond its own catalogue
A platform needs games that give people a reason to visit, and WEMADE is seeking titles beyond its own releases. In its second-quarter 2025 earnings release, the company said it was accelerating the onboarding of external games. That strategy could broaden the range of games available and make WEMIX PLAY more than a channel for WEMADE’s existing catalogue. The announcement establishes an intention to bring in outside titles; it does not by itself show how many developers have joined or how many games are active.

WEMADE’s corporate overview reports that it has published more than 100 PC and mobile games. It also says MIR4 reached 1.4 million peak concurrent users after its global launch in 2021. Those company-reported figures indicate experience publishing games and operating a large hit, but they are not WEMIX PLAY-specific measures and cannot be compared directly with Steam’s catalogue or audience.
What the available numbers do—and do not—show
WEMADE’s corporate overview reports cumulative WEMIX 3.0 mainnet transaction volume of more than $11 billion. That figure concerns blockchain transactions; it is not a measure of player spending, WEMADE revenue, or the health of game economies.

This is a company-displayed, time-sensitive snapshot, not a durable measure of monthly active users, retention, or concurrent players. “Steam of blockchain games” is best understood as an aspiration: WEMADE wants WEMIX PLAY to bring games, distribution, and services together in one platform. The available sources support that strategic direction, particularly the stated effort to onboard external games and the platform’s token and commerce features. They do not establish that WEMIX PLAY matches Steam’s scale, catalogue breadth, discovery experience, or business model.

A meaningful comparison would require evidence across several dimensions:
- Catalogue: how many titles are available and actively maintained, and how varied they are.
- Onboarding and discovery: how easy it is to find games, create an account, connect a wallet, and start playing.
- Asset use: which assets can actually be traded or used across games, under what rules, and with what liquidity.
- Developer support: how many external studios publish on the platform and what distribution or publishing support they receive.
- Audience and durability: active users, retention, and whether game economies continue to function over time.
The cited information describes the blockchain features and external-game strategy more clearly than it answers those broader questions. The analogy captures Wemade’s ambition, not a demonstrated equivalence.
