Prince Abdullah’s best-documented wealth-building venture was a Saudi paper manufacturing and recycling business. Dejphon Chansiri’s wealth has been linked to Thai business interests, but the available evidence does not establish a reliable personal net-worth figure for him—or for Abdullah. Their ownership has ended: Sheffield United was acquired by COH Sports in December 2024, and Sheffield Wednesday’s assets transferred to Arise Capital Partners in May 2026.
What the evidence says about their fortunes
The two stories are not equally quantifiable. A business profile traces Prince Abdullah’s entrepreneurial activity to a named paper company and gives a figure for that company’s revenue. For Dejphon Chansiri, a supporters’ group account describes Thai business interests and reported club funding arrangements, but does not establish an audited personal balance sheet.
Revenue is not profit, and neither is the same as an owner’s stake or personal net worth. A company’s sales cannot be treated as money its founder personally earned or still owns. Likewise, a family business’s estimated value does not establish the wealth of one family member. No reliable, current and independently verifiable personal net-worth estimate for either former owner is established by the sources cited here.
How Prince Abdullah built a business
Campden’s 2015 profile describes Prince Abdullah as the founder of Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company, established in 1989, and says a related recycling company was launched in 1996. The account presents a business built around manufacturing, recycling and expansion—not a substantiated personal-fortune figure.

Campden reported Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company revenue of SAR 757.7 million in 2014. That is the company’s reported revenue for that year, not Abdullah’s income, profit, personal assets or current net worth. Campden’s profile
Online articles have circulated estimates of Abdullah’s fortune, but a striking figure repeated in headlines is not a dependable valuation without a clear date, methodology and independent support.

What is known about Dejphon Chansiri’s business interests
In a 2025 account, the Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust said it used Thai company-register data to map Chansiri’s business interests. The Trust also said the EFL confirmed that some, if not all, funding for Wednesday had come through loans. These are the Trust’s account of its research and its description of EFL correspondence; they do not amount to an audited statement of Chansiri’s wealth or prove that one named company alone made him a millionaire. That distinction matters when interpreting claims about a family’s business wealth. The value of a company, an individual’s ownership stake and their liquid personal assets are separate measures. The cited account does not provide a basis for assigning Chansiri a precise personal net worth.

How their business stories compare
| Question | Prince Abdullah | Dejphon Chansiri |
|---|---|---|
| Documented business connection | Campden’s 2015 profile identifies him as founder of Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company and describes a related recycling business. | The Supporters’ Trust said its Thai company-register research mapped his business interests. |
| Quantified figure | Campden reported SAR 757.7 million in company revenue for Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company in 2014; this is not personal wealth. | No comparable personal-wealth figure is established in the cited account. |
| Club-funding information | Not stated in the cited business profile. | The Supporters’ Trust said the EFL confirmed some, if not all, Wednesday funding came through loans. |
The comparison is therefore about the type and strength of evidence, not a ranking of fortunes. One source supplies an attributed company-revenue figure; the other describes business interests and reported loans without quantifying personal wealth.

Companies House’s page for persons with significant control still lists Chansiri as holding 75% or more of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club Limited’s shares. That entry should not be read in isolation as proof that he still controls the club: the later EFL announcement records an asset transfer and change in ownership. Companies House record

Private-company interests, family holdings, company revenue and club loans do not add up to a personal net-worth calculation. A defensible estimate would need dated, reliable evidence about an individual’s assets, liabilities and ownership stakes. The cited sources do not provide that for either former owner, so a precise personal fortune—or a fair comparison between the two—cannot be stated as fact.
After selling Sheffield United, Prince Abdullah told BBC Sport: “Owning a club is emotionally exhausting because of the ups and downs.” BBC interview
