Reckitt says its China business has recorded 12 consecutive quarters of double-digit sales growth, while management points to e-commerce, social commerce and live-streaming as important parts of its approach. The available company statements explain the channels involved, but do not establish that a particular tactic alone caused the growth.
What Reckitt says is driving its China growth
On July 29, 2026, Reckitt executive Shannon Eisenhardt described 12 straight quarters of double-digit sales growth in China and called the business broad-based, with several brands growing. She also said the company was growing on an important Chinese platform and doing well in social commerce. Those remarks are company statements recorded in a third-party earnings-call transcript, rather than independently verified sales data.

The distinction matters: the headline’s link between changed sales tactics and the growth streak is stronger than the accessible evidence can confirm. Management describes its digital channels as central to the business, but the statements available do not isolate their contribution or demonstrate that they alone produced the results.

How e-commerce and social commerce fit together
E-commerce is the larger channel shift
In a March 11, 2026 earnings-call transcript, Eisenhardt said e-commerce accounted for 80% of Reckitt’s China business, compared with about 20% before COVID. This is a company-reported channel share, not an independently audited market estimate. The figures indicate a major shift in how Reckitt sells in China, but do not show the separate contribution of each platform or product category.

Social commerce adds discovery and interaction
Social commerce combines product discovery and shopping within social platforms. Live-streaming can add demonstrations, creator or host interaction, and a direct path to purchase. Eisenhardt described Reckitt’s live-streaming studios as a sales and consumer-engagement capability, suggesting that the company sees the channel as more than a checkout destination.
In the March 2026 call, Eisenhardt also cited a CAGNY statistic that 800 million Chinese consumers use social commerce each month. That figure is her attributed statement; the underlying CAGNY source was not available, so it should not be treated as an independently validated measure of shoppers or purchases.

Twelve consecutive quarters of double-digit sales growth is evidence of sustained reported momentum, not proof that every brand or channel grew at the same rate. Eisenhardt described the China business as broad-based, but also noted an exception: Durex had a soft first half. She attributed that performance to a VAT increase, content restrictions and competitor promotions. Those are management’s explanations, not independently established causal findings.
The available statements therefore support a measured conclusion: Reckitt has shifted heavily toward e-commerce and is using social commerce and live-streaming as part of its China sales and engagement model. They do not provide a channel-by-channel breakdown, a verified account of specific tactical changes, or a basis for comparing Reckitt’s performance with competitors.
