Mark Attanasio built his wealth primarily through investment management, not through Norwich City. After working as a lawyer and at Drexel Burnham Lambert, he co-founded Crescent Capital Group in 1991. His later sports investments—including the Milwaukee Brewers and Norwich City—made him a prominent owner, but published sources do not disclose how much of his personal fortune came from any one investment.
How did Mark Attanasio make his money?
Attanasio’s documented career began in law, followed by investment banking at Drexel Burnham Lambert in the mid-1980s. In 1991, he co-founded Crescent Capital Group, an investment-management firm. The Milwaukee Brewers’ official biography describes him as an investment-management executive for more than 35 years and identifies Crescent as central to his career. Milwaukee Brewers official biography and Forbes Europe’s Attanasio profile document that sequence.
Crescent is an alternative-credit and private-investment platform. The Milken Institute’s 2026 speaker biography described it as having $50 billion in assets and said it had recently been sold to Sun Life Financial. The $50 billion figure reflects the platform’s scale, not Attanasio’s personal wealth. The biography does not give his ownership share or the proceeds he received from the sale. What do the reported net-worth and asset figures mean?
Forbes displayed a real-time estimate of Attanasio’s personal net worth at $1.9 billion as of October 4, 2026. This is a third-party estimate, not an audited personal balance sheet. Forbes does not provide a source-by-source breakdown showing how much came from Crescent, sports holdings, or other investments. Forbes Europe

| $50 billion | Crescent’s assets, as stated in the Milken Institute’s 2026 biography. | Attanasio’s personal assets or ownership share. |

| $220 million | Forbes’ reported 2004 purchase price for an estimated 45% Brewers stake. | A confirmed personal investment ledger, his current ownership percentage, or a realized return. |
These figures measure different things: estimated personal net worth, a firm’s assets, a team valuation, and a reported purchase price. They should not be added together or treated as evidence of a specific profit.
How do the Brewers and Norwich City fit into his wealth story?
Milwaukee Brewers
Forbes says Attanasio bought an estimated 45% stake in the Brewers in 2004 for a reported $220 million, and its profile gives the team a $1.6 billion valuation in 2026. Those figures do not show his current ownership share or the value of his stake, and they do not establish what return he has personally realized.

Norwich City
Attanasio’s Norwich investment came later. BBC Sport reported that Norfolk FB Holdings took an initial 15.9% stake in 2022 and subsequently increased it to 40%. In November 2024, a rise to 85% was proposed, subject to ratification; that report does not establish the club’s ownership position today. BBC Sport’s 2022 report and BBC Sport’s November 2024 report
The November 2024 BBC report also said Norwich City’s financial report showed loans totaling £58.6 million by June 30, with a further £8 million in cash-flow funding. Those are club financing figures, not measures of Attanasio’s personal wealth or evidence that Norwich generated his fortune.

What is not publicly established?
- Attanasio’s exact ownership share in Crescent.
- His personal proceeds from Crescent’s sale to Sun Life Financial.
- An audited personal balance sheet or a reliable allocation of his estimated fortune across investments.
- His current personal ownership percentage or realized return from the Brewers, based on the cited reporting.
The strongest supported explanation is that investment management—especially building Crescent after earlier legal and investment-banking work—was the foundation of Attanasio’s wealth. The available figures illuminate the scale of his businesses and investments, but do not reveal a precise personal accounting.
