The report does not disclose the amount, so it does not confirm a seven-figure windfall. It also reports £9.5 million in total player sales that season; that is a club-wide figure, not Olise’s individual contribution.
What Reading’s accounts report—and what they do not
BBC Sport reported that Reading’s 2024–25 accounts showed an overall loss of £3.8 million. Player sales of £9.5 million reduced initial losses of more than £13 million. The report lists a sell-on clause for former Reading player Olise among the season’s significant player-sale items, but it gives neither his individual proceeds nor the clause percentage. BBC Sport’s account report is therefore evidence of an Olise-related sell-on receipt, not evidence of a particular sum.
- £9.5 million: Reading’s reported total player-sale income for 2024–25, not Olise’s payment.
- £3.8 million: the club’s reported overall loss for that season.
- More than £13 million: initial losses before player-sale income reduced them.
Because the report does not break out Olise’s contribution, subtracting, assigning, or otherwise treating the full £9.5 million as his fee would be inaccurate. The available reporting does not independently verify the title’s “seven-figure” description.
Why Reading could receive money from the Bayern move
Olise’s transfer path explains why Reading could benefit from a later sale. The Premier League’s retrospective says Crystal Palace completed his signing from Reading in 2021. When Olise subsequently moved from Palace to Bayern, a sell-on clause from an earlier transfer could result in income for Reading. The Premier League’s account of Palace’s 2021 signing establishes that earlier move; it does not state the terms of Reading’s clause.
