BBC Sport reported that he acquired the stake in August 2024 and, on 3 December 2025, that he retained it after the club’s ownership structure changed.
What is Ed Sheeran’s stake in Ipswich Town?
BBC Sport reported on 15 August 2024 that Sheeran had bought a 1.4% stake in the club. Its 3 December 2025 report on Ipswich Town’s new ownership structure said he retained the same 1.4% minority holding. Those reports establish the latest stated percentage, but they are not a live check of the club’s shareholder register.
Does his stake give him control of the club?
No. The August 2024 BBC report described the investment as passive and minority. Sheeran said: “I’m not a voting shareholder or a board member.” The reported percentage and the rights attached to a holding are separate questions; the available reporting does not identify him as having voting rights or a board role.
How does his holding fit into Ipswich Town’s ownership?
A 2025 Norton Rose Fulbright report lists the following breakdown of voting ownership, using its stated voting-power methodology:

The BBC reports do not disclose Sheeran’s purchase price or establish a current monetary value for his holding. Without a disclosed transaction price or a dated valuation that applies to his stake, a reliable cash figure cannot be calculated from the reported 1.4% alone.
