Electronic Arts said in October 2003 that Madden sales had “comfortably exceeded $1 billion in the U.S.” That is the clearest directly attributable lifetime figure EA has published in the sources available here—but it is a historical, U.S.-only sales milestone, not a current worldwide revenue or profit total. EA has not disclosed a complete Madden lifetime total through fiscal 2026.
What is the best public figure for Madden’s lifetime sales?
In an earnings-call transcript dated October 22, 2003, Electronic Arts said: “Over its lifetime, Madden sales have comfortably exceeded $1 billion in the U.S.” (EA earnings-call transcript)
The statement establishes that EA’s cumulative U.S. Madden sales had passed $1 billion by that date. It does not give an exact total, cover worldwide sales, or define whether “sales” means what customers spent or revenue recognized by EA. It also says nothing about profit. Treat the figure as a dated U.S. milestone—not as Madden’s current lifetime earnings.
Why isn’t there a current Madden total?
EA’s more recent financial disclosures discuss Madden alongside other games and revenue sources, rather than reporting one complete Madden-only lifetime figure. Its FY2026 Form 10-K reports $2.148 billion in full-game net revenue across EA’s portfolio and says that category was primarily driven by Madden NFL 26, EA SPORTS FC 26, Battlefield 6, and EA SPORTS FC 25. The filing does not say how much of that total came from Madden. (EA FY2026 Form 10-K)

EA also said its Madden NFL franchise delivered record net bookings in FY2024, up 6% year over year. That disclosure signals growth, but EA did not provide the franchise’s bookings in dollars. (EA FY2024 results)
“Made” can mean several different things
A Madden money figure depends on the metric being counted. Consumer spending, EA-recognized net revenue, net bookings, and profit are not interchangeable. EA describes revenue across full-game sales, live services, subscriptions, and licensing; its full-game category includes digital downloads and packaged goods, while live-services and other revenue can include extra content, certain licensing, subscriptions, and advertising. (EA revenue definitions)
Rank #2
- Dominate the league in EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26.
- Years of NFL game data powers next-level coaching, QB authenticity, and explosive gameplay.
- Every game is a new challenge on your path to becoming an NFL legend.
- Consumer spending: money customers spend on games and related products or services.
- Net revenue: revenue EA recognizes under its accounting categories.
- Net bookings: a separate company-reported performance measure; the FY2024 Madden statement gives growth, not a dollar amount.
- Profit: what remains after costs. The cited Madden disclosures do not report a Madden-specific profit figure.
Because the public disclosures use different measures and do not provide a complete title-level breakdown, adding EA-wide totals or estimating from one category would not produce a defensible Madden lifetime total.
What the latest disclosures do—and don’t—show
| Disclosure | What it establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| EA statement, October 22, 2003 | Madden lifetime sales had exceeded $1 billion in the U.S. by that date. (Source) | A current worldwide total, exact amount, or profit. |
| EA FY2024 results | Madden NFL franchise net bookings set a record and increased 6% year over year. (Source) | The dollar value of those bookings or a cumulative lifetime figure. |
| EA FY2026 Form 10-K | EA reported $2.148 billion in portfolio-wide full-game net revenue; Madden NFL 26 was one of several named drivers. (Source) | Madden’s share of that amount or its total revenue across games and services. |
How to read Madden money claims
When comparing a reported figure or estimate, check four details before treating it as a franchise total:

- Date or period: Is it a cumulative figure as of a particular date, or a result for one fiscal year?
- Geography: Does it cover the U.S. or worldwide markets?
- Metric: Is it consumer spending, net revenue, net bookings, or profit?
- Scope: Does it cover one installment, console and PC games, mobile, or the franchise’s broader services and extra content?
These distinctions matter here: EA’s historical $1 billion statement is U.S.-only and uses “sales,” while its newer disclosures report different metrics and do not isolate all Madden revenue. EA’s FY2026 filing discusses Madden NFL 26 for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, but does not supply a cumulative worldwide franchise ledger.
