Reports on Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s 2022 divorce settlement say he received a one-time, tax-free payment of $1,326,161, along with spousal support of $115,000 a month through January 2024. The agreement also included child support and a minority interest in a Montana ranch, but neither should be treated as cash paid directly to Blackstock. Celebrity Net Worth later estimated his net worth at $10 million at his death in August 2025; that figure is not a verified accounting.

What money did Brandon Blackstock receive in the divorce settlement?

Us Weekly reported in March 2022, citing court documents, that Clarkson and Blackstock finalized their divorce on March 8, 2022. The reported terms included a one-time tax-free payment and monthly support payments. The figures describe reported settlement terms; the available account does not establish every payment actually made.

Reported amount or interest What it represented Important qualification
$1,326,161 One-time payment to Blackstock Reported as tax-free by Us Weekly in 2022.
$115,000 per month Spousal support Reported to continue through January 2024.
$45,601 per month Child support Reported to continue until the children turned 18, graduated high school, or became self-supporting. It was for the children, not an unrestricted personal payout.
5.12% interest, valued at $908,800 Share of the Montana ranch Us Weekly reported a total ranch value of $17,750,000. The $908,800 was a reported valuation of the interest, not proof of cash received or of a later sale at that value.

These amounts should not be collapsed into a single personal-payout total. Spousal support accrued over time, child support served the children, and the ranch figure was a reported asset valuation. The cited account does not confirm all installments or establish cash proceeds from the ranch interest. Us Weekly’s settlement report describes the reported terms.

What was Brandon Blackstock’s net worth?

Celebrity Net Worth estimated Blackstock’s net worth at $10 million at the time of his death in August 2025. That is the site’s estimate, not a verified estate value. The cited coverage does not provide a public, independently verified accounting of his assets and liabilities. Celebrity Net Worth’s estimate should therefore be attributed to the publisher rather than stated as a confirmed financial fact.

Net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities at a particular point in time. The reported divorce terms alone cannot establish it: they do not show Blackstock’s full financial position, what he retained or spent, or any debts. Nor do they establish the amount of support actually received.

Was the commission dispute part of the divorce payout?

No. The commission dispute arose from Blackstock’s work as Clarkson’s manager and was separate from the divorce settlement. Entertainment Tonight reported that a California Labor Commissioner ruled in November 2023 that Blackstock had overstepped the role of manager in securing certain jobs and deals, and ordered $2,641,374 in commissions returned. The parties later reached a confidential settlement and requested dismissal in May 2024. Clarkson’s attorney said, “The case has been settled in its entirety. It is a confidential settlement.” The final amount, if any, paid under that settlement was not disclosed in the cited report; it is not established that Blackstock ultimately repaid the full amount ordered. Entertainment Tonight’s timeline covers the order and resolution.

The Associated Press reported in August 2025 that the parties had settled lawsuits in 2024 over alleged management overcharges. It also reported that Blackstock died of cancer at age 48. A family representative said, “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years.” Neither report discloses the commission settlement’s financial terms. The Associated Press report summarizes his death and the lawsuits.
