That was a reported potential fundraising valuation—not a confirmed sale price or an official statement of the club’s current value. It also does not mean Wrexham’s players are worth £350 million, or establish that the club has the Championship’s most valuable squad.
What is Wrexham AFC’s reported valuation?
Bloomberg reported on 4 June 2025 that Wrexham was considering selling a stake at a valuation of up to £350 million ($475 million), citing people familiar with the matter. The figure described a possible fundraising valuation; the report did not confirm that a transaction closed at that price. Bloomberg’s report is the source for the initial figure.
BBC Sport later described £350 million as a valuation suggested by US reports before the Apollo Sports Capital deal. That reference is context about pre-deal reporting, not evidence of a completed transaction at precisely that value or a definitive current club valuation. BBC Sport’s explainer discusses that context.
Does £350 million mean Wrexham is the most expensive team in the Championship?
Not on the evidence behind the headline. The £350 million figure concerns a reported valuation of the club in connection with a potential stake sale. “Most expensive team” can instead mean the estimated value of the players, transfer spending, or wages. Those measures are not interchangeable, and the available reporting does not establish a Championship-wide club-valuation ranking.

- Club valuation: a reported estimate or transaction-related figure for the business or an ownership stake.
- Squad market value: an estimate of players’ transfer-market values, not money the club has spent or would necessarily receive.
- Transfer spending: fees paid or committed to acquire players, which may include add-ons and loan costs.
- Wages: payroll over a defined period; a club’s overall staff costs are not the same as player wages.
Transfermarkt listed Wrexham’s squad at €76.00 million and its most valuable XI at €61.50 million in a database snapshot crawled about four months before this article’s research date. These are third-party estimates in euros, not club equity or enterprise value, actual transfer fees, or a wage bill. The XI is a selected lineup, not the whole squad. Without same-date figures for every Championship club, these numbers do not establish that Wrexham leads the league in squad value. Transfermarkt’s Wrexham listing is a volatile database snapshot.

The accounts say 57.7% of turnover came from the rest of the world, primarily North America, while 40.5% came from the UK. They also describe a multi-year technical partnership with Macron, international retail distribution, and a global e-commerce platform with localized delivery. The men’s team earned promotion from League One to the Championship in 2024–25.
BBC Sport’s March 2026 analysis reported a 73.6% rise in wages to £19.95 million and restated the £14.85 million loss. It estimated turnover of £46 million to £50 million for the year ending June 2026; that is a media estimate, not filed accounts. BBC Sport’s account analysis provides that later context.

Why investors may see value beyond current profits
A club valuation can reflect expectations about future revenue, the brand, commercial reach, and sporting prospects—not just its most recent profit or loss. BBC Sport quoted football finance expert Kieran Maguire saying: “Getting cash from investors is simply a function of acknowledgement from the investors that Wrexham Football Club is worth an awful lot of money in the current market.”
Global attention is part of the reported commercial story, but exposure should not be mistaken for direct documentary income. BBC Sport described the documentary as a marketing tool rather than a direct source of club revenue. Wrexham chief executive Michael Williamson called the club “a global brand, a Premier League brand in the Championship”; that is his characterization, not an independent measure of value.
