2026 annual fishing license prices
The right license depends on whether you fish freshwater, saltwater, or both, as well as your residency and age. WDFW lists the following annual prices:
| License | Resident age 16–69 | Nonresident | Resident age 70+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshwater | $34.50 | $103.50 | $6.90 |
| Saltwater | $40.71 | $81.70 | $7.59 |
| Combination | $62.79 | $149.73 | $21.39 |
Prices are from WDFW’s 2026 fishing license fee schedule, effective January 1, 2026. WDFW describes the combination license as covering freshwater and saltwater fishing, shellfish—including razor clams—and seaweed harvest.
Which license or package fits your plans?
Freshwater or saltwater
Choose freshwater if you will fish freshwater only, or saltwater if you will fish saltwater only. If you plan to fish both, compare the combination license with buying separate coverage and confirm the permitted activities in WDFW’s license information.

Who needs a Washington fishing license?
WDFW says anglers age 16 and older need a fishing license. Its fee schedule distinguishes resident adults ages 16–69, resident seniors age 70 and older, nonresidents, and certain other categories, including youth age 15 for applicable products and eligible reduced-fee or disabled-veteran licenses.
