Amazon said Prime members using Prime Gaming grew by more than 120% over the two years preceding July 2022, according to a GamesBeat report published July 12, 2022. That is a company-reported growth rate, not a published count of distinct users. Amazon separately reported more than 420 million offers claimed and 80 million free games claimed in 2021; those are claims, not people.
What Amazon reported about Prime Gaming’s growth
The reported increase was more than 120% in the number of Prime members using Prime Gaming over the preceding two years. GamesBeat attributed the figure to Amazon, but the report did not provide the starting or ending member totals, exact comparison dates, or a definition of what counted as “using” the service. It also did not describe an audited user-count series. The percentage therefore gives Amazon’s reported direction and scale of growth, but cannot be used to calculate how many people used Prime Gaming.
What the claims figures measure
Amazon’s 2021 figures describe activity, not distinct members. The same GamesBeat report said members claimed more than 420 million offers and 80 million free games that year. An offer claim is not necessarily a game claim, and neither total establishes how many different people made claims: one member could claim multiple offers or games.
These figures also cover different periods and measures. The more-than-120% figure compares members using the service across two years; the 2021 figures count claimed offers and games during one year. They should not be combined into a single user-growth calculation.

What Amazon later said about 2022
In a January 2023 statement reporting 2022 results, Prime Gaming said claims of games and in-game content increased by more than 25% year over year. That is a claims measure, not a new distinct-member growth rate, so it does not independently confirm the earlier 120% user-growth claim.
Prime Gaming also said it offered more than 100 Games With Prime titles during 2022. It put the total game MSRP value at more than $2,300 for a member who claimed every Games With Prime game offered that year, based on each game’s MSRP when offered. That figure is a conditional, theoretical total—not the typical member’s realized savings.

What Prime Gaming includes and how claiming works
Amazon’s current UK help page describes Prime Gaming as a benefit included with Amazon Prime and Prime Video, with select games and a monthly Twitch channel subscription where available. Amazon says offers may vary by country, so UK help wording should not be read as a guarantee that every benefit is available in every market.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the figures do—and do not—show
The figures indicate that Amazon reported substantial growth in members using Prime Gaming and a high volume of claims, followed by further year-over-year claims growth in 2022. They do not reveal the number of unique users, geographic distribution, or how Amazon defined “use.” The 2022 statement provides no comparable distinct-member growth rate. Readers should treat the 120% as Amazon’s reported claim and keep it separate from claims totals and the later claims-growth percentage.
