Survivor has a long history of attracting advertisers, but no reliable public source establishes how much the show currently earns CBS or what profit it makes. The often-cited figure of about $600,000 for a 30-second ad comes from 2000, during the first season—not from today. Paramount’s public financial filings report revenue across broader business segments, not for Survivor alone.
What can be said about Survivor’s earnings?
The available public figures do not support a current dollar estimate for Survivor’s revenue or profit. The strongest financial datapoint is a reported 2000 advertising rate. It describes the price of a single 30-second spot in the show’s first-season era, not the revenue from a season, finale, or the series as a whole.
Revenue and profit are also different measures. Even if a show’s revenue were known, estimating profit would require costs and a reliable way to assign shared expenses and income to that title. The public sources cited here do not provide those figures for Survivor.
What the historical ad-price reports actually say
In August 2000, The Washington Post reported, citing Inside.com, that CBS could charge about $600,000 for a 30-second Survivor ad. The Los Angeles Times reported that companies were paying more than $500,000 for prime 30-second spots during the first-season finale.

These reports show that advertisers valued the program highly at the time. They are not a current rate card or a tally of how many ads aired, how many were sold, or how much CBS ultimately retained. Multiplying one of these spot prices by an assumed number of commercials would not produce a reliable earnings estimate.
Audience figures are dated snapshots, not revenue figures
The Los Angeles Times reported that Survivor had attracted more than 30 million viewers by its first-season finale in 2000. That helps explain the reported ad prices in that period, but it is not a measure of the show’s present audience.

For a later, but still dated, reference point, TheWrap reported that the season 40 premiere in February 2020 drew 6.7 million total viewers and a 1.3 adults 18–49 rating in preliminary Nielsen figures. Those numbers describe one premiere, not a current season average, and they do not state advertising revenue.
Why Paramount’s financial reports do not answer the title-level question
Paramount’s 2024 Form 10-K, filed February 27, 2025, describes advertising, affiliate fees, and content licensing among the company’s revenue streams. It also explains that licensing revenue is recognized based on the rights and license period. But the filing does not break out Survivor’s revenue, costs, or profit. Company or segment totals cannot be assigned to one program without title-specific disclosures.

Licensing is one possible source of value beyond broadcast advertising, but the existence of a licensing category does not show how much a particular program earns. A 2018 USPTO trademark proceeding identifies categories of Survivor-related goods, including games, apparel, toys, housewares, and printed matter. That filing does not establish current product sales or licensing income.
What the show’s longevity does—and does not—tell us
Paramount Global Content’s current title listing, accessed October 7, 2026, identifies Survivor as a CBS reality competition series with 50 seasons and 751 episodes. That confirms the scale of its catalog, not the revenue or margin attached to it.

The Associated Press described Survivor in 2023 as “a dependable performer for CBS.” This is a qualitative characterization, not a financial disclosure. Long-running status, a large catalog, and a history of strong advertising interest may indicate continuing value, but none reveals how much CBS earns from the show today.

No title-specific current revenue or profit total is established by these public sources. The roughly $600,000 figure refers to a reported 30-second ad rate in 2000; the audience figures belong to 2000 and a single 2020 premiere; and Paramount’s filings report broader business results rather than Survivor’s individual financials. Treat any precise current earnings or profit estimate as unsupported unless it is backed by title-level financial disclosures.
