An accounts liability is not automatically an overdue debt. Transfer fees can be paid in installments under agreed schedules, with amounts due in later accounting periods. The reported balance identifies what was listed at a particular cutoff, not whether Barcelona had missed a contractual payment date.

The figures refer to different things and dates: the €41.9 million and €19.049 million amounts are reported balances at accounting cutoffs, while €22.9 million is a reported payment made during a financial year. Read that way, the lower June 2026 balance and the reported installment are not contradictory. None of these figures establishes the full historic transfer price.

Has Barcelona paid the remaining amount?
Later reports say Barcelona settled the remaining roughly €19 million after the 30 June 2026 accounts cutoff. That claim is not confirmed by an official Barcelona statement in the reviewed sources. The Athletic reporting reproduced by Global Breaking News said Barcelona did not confirm or deny whether the reported post-cutoff payments had been made when asked. The safest conclusion is therefore date-specific: Barcelona’s accounts were reported to show €19.049 million payable to Leeds at 30 June 2026; subsequent reporting says it was paid later, but official confirmation is not established by these sources.

What Leeds said about the transfer fee
