Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIn the U.S., Apple Music costs $6.99 per month for eligible students, $11.99 per month for an Individual plan, or $19.99 per month for a Family plan, based on Apple’s current plan cards checked August 18, 2026. The Student plan is the cheapest Apple Music-only option. The Family plan is usually the better per-person deal for two or more people, while Apple One can be cheaper only when you would otherwise pay for its included services.
There is one important pricing wrinkle: Apple’s U.S. Apple Music page currently shows $11.99 for Individual in its comparison card but still lists $10.99 in an older FAQ. Treat $11.99 as the current displayed plan-card price and confirm the amount shown at checkout.

Which Apple Music plan is cheapest?
- Cheapest ongoing Apple Music-only plan: Student, at $6.99 per month, if you qualify.
- Cheapest option for one nonstudent: Individual, at the price shown at checkout. Apple’s current plan card displays $11.99.
- Best music-only value for multiple people: Family, provided everyone belongs to the same eligible Family Sharing group.
- Potentially better than Individual: Apple One Individual, if you already want Apple TV, Apple Arcade and iCloud+.
- Potentially better than Family: Apple One Family or Premier, but only if the household will use the additional services and storage.
At $19.99 per month, Apple Music Family works out to about $10 per person for two people, $6.67 per person for three, and $3.33 per person when all six available places are used. Family Sharing includes the organizer plus up to five other people.
Apple Music Individual
The Individual plan is designed for one listener. It provides a private Apple Music account experience, including an individual library, recommendations and playlists. It is the simplest choice if nobody else needs access and you do not want Apple’s other subscription services.
Apple’s page currently has conflicting Individual prices. Its plan comparison card displays $11.99/month, while an FAQ section still says $10.99/month. Because the plan card is the newer-looking pricing element but Apple has not removed the conflicting text, verify the amount on the checkout screen rather than assuming either figure applies universally.

At $6.99 per month, Student is the lowest regular Apple Music price for eligible U.S. subscribers. Apple says the plan includes the same core music features as Individual, such as ad-free listening, downloads, lossless audio, Spatial Audio, lyrics, playlists and Apple Music Classical.
Apple’s marketing page also says Student includes Apple TV. However, Apple’s support documentation describes that access as available for a limited time. It is attached to the student subscription and should not be treated as a permanently guaranteed or separately shareable Apple TV subscription.
Who qualifies?
Apple says the discounted plan is for verified students enrolled in a degree-granting university or equivalent higher-education course. This includes qualifying associate, bachelor’s and postgraduate programs. Eligibility is not simply based on age or having a school email address.
You will generally need:
- An Apple Account.
- A valid payment method.
- Student identification and/or access to a school email address.
- The ability to complete Apple’s verification process, which may involve UNiDAYS or SheerID depending on your circumstances.
To sign up, open Apple Music on an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Android device, go to Home, choose the trial or subscription offer, select Student, choose Verify Student Status, and complete the verification process.

If verification is delayed or fails, Apple may direct you to the relevant verification provider. A school email alone may not resolve every case; you may need to submit a student ID or other enrollment evidence.
How long does the Student discount last?
The discounted rate is available for up to 48 months, subject to continued eligibility and periodic reverification. Apple generally requires students to verify their status annually. Four years is a maximum, not a promise that the discount will continue for every student through graduation.
If you stop qualifying, fail to reverify, or reach the 48-month limit, the subscription renews at the Individual rate. Review the renewal price before continuing if your student status changes.
Student subscriptions cannot be shared through Family Sharing. The Apple TV access associated with Student also cannot be shared through Family Sharing.

Apple Music Family
The Family plan costs $19.99 per month and covers the purchaser plus up to five additional members of an Apple Family Sharing group. Each person uses their own Apple Account and gets a separate library, listening history, recommendations and playlists. It is not a shared login to the purchaser’s account.
Family Sharing is useful for a couple, roommates who meet Apple’s family-group requirements, or a household with several listeners. It is not the same as casually sharing a password across unrelated households. If you join a Family Sharing group that already has Apple Music, your existing Individual subscription will not renew at its next billing date, and you use the family subscription instead. Changes to Family Sharing settings can take up to 30 minutes to take effect.
An Individual or Student plan cannot simply be converted into a group subscription by giving other people your Apple Account credentials. If nobody in the group has a Family subscription, an Individual subscription does not cover the whole group.

Apple One: when is the bundle cheaper?
| Apple One plan | Monthly price | Included services |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | $19.95 | Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and 50GB iCloud+ |
| Family | $27.95 | Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and 200GB iCloud+ |
| Premier | $39.95 | Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and 2TB iCloud+ |
Apple’s listed standalone prices put the included services at a combined $32.96 per month for Apple One Individual, $42.96 for Family and $72.94 for Premier. The listed bundle prices are therefore lower than buying those services separately:
- Individual: $32.96 separately versus $19.95 bundled.
- Family: $42.96 separately versus $27.95 bundled.
- Premier: $72.94 separately versus $39.95 bundled.
Those are potential savings, not automatic savings. If you want only music, Apple Music Individual or Family is cheaper in absolute terms than any Apple One plan. Apple One makes financial sense when you would genuinely pay for the included television, gaming, cloud storage, news or fitness services.
Apple One and Family Sharing
Apple One Family and Premier can be shared with up to five other people. Apple One Individual is intended for one person and is not a replacement for a shareable Family plan. Some services may have their own sharing behavior, so check the plan details for the service you care about.
Students should not assume that their discounted Student subscription can be folded into Apple One at the Student price. Apple markets Student separately, and Apple’s sharing guidance excludes Student subscriptions from Family Sharing. Compare the options actually shown in your Apple Account before changing plans; account transitions and eligibility can affect what is offered.

Apple’s current U.S. Apple Music page displays these offers for qualifying new subscribers:
- Individual: three months for $1.99.
- Family: three months for $4.99.
- Student: first month free.
- Eligible new device: three months free, subject to the offer terms.
These are temporary or eligibility-dependent promotions, not the regular subscription prices. They may be limited to new subscribers, may not combine with Apple One, and convert to recurring billing unless canceled. Device promotions can also have separate qualification and redemption deadlines.

Which plan should you choose?
| Your situation | Most sensible starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One nonstudent who wants music only | Individual | It is the simplest single-user option. |
| Eligible student | Student | Lowest regular music-only price, provided you can reverify. |
| Two or more listeners | Family | Separate accounts and libraries at one household price. |
| One person already paying for iCloud+, Apple TV or Arcade | Apple One Individual | May cost less than keeping those services separate. |
| Household using Apple Music, TV, Arcade and storage | Apple One Family | Adds shareable services and 200GB of iCloud+. |
| Household also using News+ and Fitness+ | Apple One Premier | Includes those services plus 2TB of iCloud+. |
Do not choose Apple One because its advertised comparison shows a theoretical discount if you will not use the services. Likewise, Family is poor value for a single listener unless other eligible members will actually use it.
How to change or cancel Apple Music
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select Apple Music.
- Tap See All Plans to switch plans, or use the cancellation control to end the subscription.
You can also open the Music app, tap the account or profile button, choose Manage Subscription, and follow the prompts.
On the web
- Open Apple Music on the web and sign in.
- Open the account menu and choose Settings.
- Under Subscriptions, choose Manage.
- Cancel the subscription or select another available plan.
If another company bills you for Apple Music, such as a mobile carrier, you may need to manage cancellation through that billing provider instead of Apple.
When the subscription ends, you can no longer stream Apple Music songs or play downloaded Apple Music tracks. Those downloads are temporary subscription access, not purchases. Music you bought separately and music already in your own personal library are different categories and should not be confused with Apple Music catalog downloads.
Apple’s subscription-change instructions include device-specific guidance.
