What does the roughly US$406 million figure mean?
Air China Limited’s July 2026 filing states that 15 A350-900s have an aggregate list price of about US$6.09 billion, based on prices as of January 2025. Dividing that aggregate by 15 gives an approximate average of US$406 million per aircraft. The filing reports a group total; US$406 million is an arithmetic average, not a separately disclosed unit price. (Air China Limited filing)
The filing describes the list price as including the airframe, optional features, and engine. It also says Airbus granted negotiated concessions in the form of credit memoranda that can reduce aircraft payments or pay for Airbus goods and services. List price is not the airline’s purchase price
A list price is a public reference, not a receipt showing what an airline paid. The difference between the two can reflect negotiated concessions, aircraft specification, and contract terms. Air China’s disclosure establishes that its actual consideration is lower than the cited list-price total, but does not provide a net amount or a discount percentage. There is no basis here for applying a universal A350 discount.

A purchase agreement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by United Airlines and Airbus illustrates why exact transaction costs can be hard to verify: it defines a base price and additional aircraft-specific components, while the monetary values are redacted as confidential. How prices differ across A350 versions
The US$406 million benchmark is derived specifically from an A350-900 order. It should not be treated as a current price for every A350 variant.

Airbus identifies the A350-900, A350-1000, and A350F as members of the A350 family. Its current family page lists ranges of 8,500 nautical miles for the -900 and 9,000 nautical miles for the -1000; those specifications do not establish their prices. (Airbus A350 family)
Why a published A350 price is only a benchmark
- Variant: The recent aggregate disclosure covers A350-900s. It does not supply a current price for the A350-1000 or A350F.

Add that the airline says its negotiated consideration is lower but has not disclosed it. For the A350-1000, the cited official figure is Airbus’s historical 2018 average list price of US$366.5 million—not a current transaction price. No exact current net price, universal discount, or price for the A350F is established by these cited disclosures.
