As of October 8, 2026, Nintendo’s announced Japanese MSRP for the Nintendo Switch 2 Japanese-Language System (Japan Only) is ¥59,980, tax included. The original Switch models cost less: ¥47,980 for OLED, ¥43,980 for the standard model, and ¥29,980 for Switch Lite. These are Nintendo’s suggested retail prices, not guaranteed prices at individual stores.

Switch 2
The ¥59,980 price is for the Japanese-Language System, designated “Japan Only.” Do not treat it as the price of every Switch 2 version. Nintendo said the price of the Switch 2 Multi-Language System sold through My Nintendo Store would remain unchanged by this revision, but the notice does not state that system’s current price. See Nintendo’s statement on the Multi-Language System for the scope of the announcement.

Original Switch family
The original-generation choices listed by Nintendo are the OLED model at ¥47,980, the standard Switch at ¥43,980, and the handheld-only Switch Lite at ¥29,980. These are separate products with different form factors, not alternate prices for one identical system.
MSRP is not the same as a store’s price
The figures above are manufacturer suggested retail prices. They do not establish what a particular retailer currently charges, whether a model is in stock, or the price of a used console. Compare the exact model and system version, and check whether the listing price includes tax before deciding what a purchase will cost.

- 6.2” LCD screen

- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
These Japanese MSRPs alone also cannot show whether a Switch is cheaper in Japan than in another country. A fair comparison needs the same generation and model, current prices in both markets, and consistent tax treatment. The official price notice is not a survey of international or live retailer prices.
