RepairPal last updated the estimate on September 3, 2026; it is not a Toyota list price or a guaranteed quote for your location. The title’s 2025 refers to the Prius model year, while this estimate reflects pricing listed in 2026.
What does “Prius battery” mean?
A Prius has two different batteries that can prompt a repair estimate. The high-voltage (HV) hybrid battery powers the hybrid system; the 12-volt accessory battery supports the vehicle’s electrical accessories and startup systems. The cost estimate here is for the HV battery, not the 12-volt battery. Check the diagnostic report or quote to confirm which component needs attention. Toyota’s manuals and warranty resources can help identify the systems in your vehicle.
What the available price estimates cover
| Source and date | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| RepairPal; estimate page updated September 3, 2026 | $6,079–$6,313 for a 2025 Prius HV battery replacement | Model-year-specific estimator. RepairPal says the range excludes taxes and fees and does not account for an individual’s location. |
| Engineer Fix; 2025 guide | $1,500 to over $5,000 installed; the guide gives $3,500–$5,000 for a dealer-installed new OEM pack | Broad Prius-wide context, not an established price for the 2025 model year. The guide says cost depends on battery source and installer. |
| Earthling Automotive; August 6, 2025 | No 2025 Prius replacement estimate established | Reports a Toyota price increase in early 2025 for a standard second-generation Prius HV battery. It illustrates that parts prices can change, but concerns an older generation. |
These figures measure different things and apply at different levels of specificity. They should not be averaged into a single “typical” 2025 Prius price. None is a universal Toyota retail price or a nationally representative survey of replacement bills. Toyota’s published materials establish warranty terms, not a universal replacement price.
Check warranty eligibility before paying
Toyota says that, for hybrid vehicles beginning with model year 2020, the HV battery is covered for 10 years from the original date of first use or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, subject to applicable warranty terms. Toyota also describes an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty for hybrid-related components; applicable emissions requirements may provide longer coverage for the HV battery. The exact coverage depends on the vehicle and applicable terms, so consult the warranty booklet for your 2025 Prius and ask a Toyota dealer to check eligibility before authorizing paid replacement. Ask for an itemized estimate from a Toyota dealer or a qualified hybrid service provider. Compare quotes only when they cover the same vehicle and repair scope.

- Confirm whether the diagnosis concerns the HV battery or the 12-volt battery.
- Check that the quoted part fits your exact model year, trim, and VIN.
- Ask whether the repair uses a new OEM assembly, a remanufactured or used battery, or a cell/module repair.
- Request separate amounts for the part, labor, diagnostic charges, taxes, and other fees.
- Ask whether there is a core charge, what the return conditions are, and how any credit is applied.
- Get the parts and labor warranty terms in writing.
- Ask whether Toyota warranty or emissions coverage applies before approving customer-paid work.
A generic warning message alone does not establish that the HV battery needs replacement. Have the vehicle diagnosed by a qualified Toyota or hybrid-service provider, and confirm the proposed repair and warranty status before committing to the expense.
