That includes its human cast, puppeteers and voice performers. Salary figures repeated without dependable sourcing should not be treated as verified pay.
What is known about Sesame Street performers’ pay?
Sesame Workshop’s Season 55 press materials identify human cast members and puppeteers, but do not disclose their earnings. The available public information therefore does not support a current salary figure—or a reliable ranking—for any named performer.
This is different from saying performers are unpaid or that no one has reported a figure anywhere. It means the sources available for this article do not verify individual compensation. Without a disclosed contract or dependable reporting, an exact salary or annual range would be speculation.
Why can performers’ compensation vary?
SAG-AFTRA’s general guidance offers context, not a Sesame Street pay scale. For animation television, the union says rates are typically set per episode and vary with program length. It also states: “All rates quoted are minimums and do not limit the performer’s right to negotiate for better rates, terms, and conditions of employment.” These are general animation-industry terms, not a disclosure of what Sesame Street cast members negotiated.

What does the $625,000 figure refer to?
A 1995 passage in the Congressional Record says Children’s Television Workshop reported that its top salary-plus-benefits package totaled about $625,000 in 1992. That is an organization-level figure; the passage does not identify the recipient as a Sesame Street performer. It separately describes payments to PBS stars as unknown. The figure is historical and cannot establish a current cast member’s pay.
