For longer-term licenses, the 2026 official price table lists resident licenses at $79.97 for 3 years, $131.97 for 5 years, and $261.97 for 10 years; nonresident licenses at $178.97, $296.97, and $591.97 for those terms; and senior resident licenses at $39.47 for 3 years or $64.47 for 5 years. Multi-year permits are also available. See the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s 2026 license and permit price table for the applicable options.

When a trout or Lake Erie permit adds to the cost

A base fishing license may not be the full price for your trip. The Commission says anglers need a valid trout, Lake Erie, or combination Trout/Lake Erie Permit for trout fishing and for fishing Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay, and their tributaries, including waters flowing into those tributaries.

Who needs a license and when it is valid

Pennsylvania requires a valid fishing license for anyone age 16 or older. The Commission says anglers do not need to display it, but must be able to provide it in print or on a digital device if an officer requests it. Licenses are available through HuntFish.PA.gov or from a Pennsylvania licensing agent.

Residents with service-connected disabilities

Pennsylvania residents whose service-connected disability is certified by the VA at 100% may qualify for a free resident license. Residents certified at 60%–99% may qualify for a reduced-fee license. The Commission explains eligibility and initial application channels.

Eligible farm owners and lessees

A resident owner or lessee of a farm of at least 80 acres may qualify for a reduced-fee landowner license only if the Commission’s other conditions are met. These include specified stream or pond access, public access to farm waters, and a conservation plan. The Commission lists the landowner license at $12.47 and the trout permit at $9.97, including its stated fees. Review the landowner license requirements before relying on this rate.

How to choose the right price

  1. Confirm residency and age. The standard annual prices differ for residents ages 16–64, resident seniors age 65 or older, and nonresidents age 16 or older.
  2. Choose the term. Compare a one-day, tourist, annual, or multi-year option against how long you plan to fish in Pennsylvania.
  3. Check the water and activity. Add the required trout or Lake Erie permit, if applicable, to the base license cost.
  4. Check special eligibility. Youth, qualifying disabled veterans, and eligible farm owners or lessees may have separate options.
  5. Verify the current season price and buy. Use the Commission’s official price and eligibility pages or buy through HuntFish.PA.gov or a licensing agent.
