There is no single confirmed pay rate for Married at First Sight. Reports vary by country and season: former Australian contestants have described daily or weekly allowances, a UK contestant reported reimbursement for lost earnings, and a US producer representative confirmed a stipend without disclosing its amount. Those accounts are not a current, franchise-wide salary schedule.
What the reported amounts mean
“Earn” can mean several different things: a payment for participating, money to cover filming days, reimbursement for income missed while filming, or what remains after a contestant pays ordinary bills. The published accounts do not establish a comparable take-home figure. They describe different kinds of support, in different currencies and editions.

What Australian contestants have reported
WHO has reported claims from former Australian participants, with amounts expressed in different units. The figures below are participant accounts, not a rate confirmed by the broadcaster or production company.
| Reported amount | Who reported it | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| AU$150 per day | Nasser Sultan, as reported by WHO | A former participant’s reported daily allowance; the article’s publication date is not exposed in the available extract. |
| AU$1,175 per week | Jesse Burford, as reported by WHO | A historical participant claim, not a verified current rate. |
| AU$1,100 per week | Olivia Frazer, as reported by WHO | A historical participant claim, not a verified current rate. |
The daily and weekly claims should not be treated as competing official rates or converted into one standard amount. WHO also reports former participant Domenica Calarco describing the Australian compensation as enough to cover living expenses; the available reporting does not calculate contestants’ net income after their bills or other costs.

What a UK contestant said about compensation
For the UK edition, Capital reported that series-nine participant Erica Roberts said cast members were not paid simply for appearing. She described reimbursement for lost earnings, reportedly capped at £3,000 per month, plus £120 a week for food. These are Roberts’ reported terms, not a published Channel 4 contract or a confirmed schedule for current seasons. Capital’s report does not establish what every participant receives.
What is known about US cast pay
A representative of US production company Kinetic Content described a stipend intended to cover filming time and time away from work, but the amount was not disclosed in the cited reporting. The representative also said the stipend was not tied to whether a couple stayed together, according to reality blurred. Do not treat the widely repeated $100,000 figure as established pay: that report does not substantiate it.

Why the numbers do not add up to a franchise-wide salary
- They come from different editions and seasons. The Australian, UK and US accounts are not terms from a shared contract.
- They describe different payment types. A daily allowance, weekly amount, food allowance, lost-income reimbursement and stipend are not interchangeable.
- They are attributed reports. The figures come from participant accounts or a producer representative, not an audited analysis of cast earnings.
- They do not establish net profit. The cited sources do not tally personal expenses, continuing bills or other costs against the reported payments.
Channel 4’s format description and contributor-welfare announcement do not publish compensation terms, so they cannot confirm a universal UK rate. Channel 4’s announcement explains the format, not cast pay.
