Nate Bargatze personally donated $250,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of America after the 2025 Emmy Awards. CBS contributed a separate $100,000, bringing the announced combined gift to $350,000.
How much did Nate Bargatze personally donate?
Bargatze’s reported personal contribution was $250,000. The Associated Press reported the split based on a statement from Lisa Anastasi, Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s chief development and external relations officer. TheWrap and BBB Wise Giving Alliance reported the same amounts.
The total was not all Bargatze’s money: CBS separately added $100,000, for a combined announced contribution of $350,000.
Why did the Emmys broadcast show a negative amount?
During the September 14, 2025 ceremony, host Bargatze introduced a challenge linked to winners’ acceptance-speech lengths. It began at $100,000 and changed by $1,000 for every second a speech ran under or over the 45-second target. The on-air counter reached negative $60,000 near the end of the show, according to the Associated Press. That was the running gag’s figure, not the amount the charity ultimately received.

Bargatze then announced that CBS would contribute $100,000 and that he would give $250,000 personally. The charity’s reported confirmation of the split distinguishes those final contributions from the counter.
What did Bargatze say about making the contribution?
In comments discussed after the ceremony, Bargatze told E! News that he had not expected to make the $250,000 payment himself at the end, but decided he could not withhold it after the way the bit played out. That retrospective explanation does not change the reported amount.

|---|---|
| $100,000 | Opening amount for the on-air speech-length challenge, not Bargatze’s final personal contribution. |
| Negative $60,000 | Reported value of the counter near the end of the ceremony, not the final amount received by the charity. |
| $250,000 | Bargatze’s reported personal contribution. |
| $100,000 | CBS’s separate contribution. |
| $350,000 | Combined announced contributions from Bargatze and CBS. |
Lisa Anastasi said the $350,000 would be impactful for the organization’s programs and for children and teens who attend its Clubs, as quoted by the Associated Press.
