After Perry lost to Paul, McGregor posted that Perry had taken a pay cut to accept the fight. MMA Fighting quoted McGregor’s since-deleted post: “Perry took a pay cut to take that fight btw. It was a wish of his. Astounding.” The post supplied no figure or before-and-after comparison, so it is a claim about Perry’s compensation, not a disclosed purse.

What was the $8 million BKFC figure?
In a September 2023 interview with MMA Fighting, Perry said BKFC had put “about $8 million” on his new multi-fight contract: “I have to say they put about $8 million on contract.” That was Perry’s description of a contract covering multiple fights, not a reported payment for one bout. It predates the Paul fight and does not establish what he was paid to box Paul. MMA Fighting’s September 14, 2023 interview report is the source for Perry’s statement.

Why did McGregor say Perry was fired from BKFC?
In the same post-fight exchange, McGregor said Perry had been fired from BKFC. At his post-fight press conference, Perry disputed McGregor’s authority, saying: “Me and him are both owners of BKFC, so he can’t fire me.” MMA Fighting identified McGregor as a BKFC co-owner; Perry’s assertion about his own ownership status should be understood as his statement in the dispute, not as confirmation of the promotion’s ownership structure.

Did Perry later return to BKFC?
Yes. In July 2025, McGregor announced Perry’s return to BKFC and gave October 11 as the date. That later announcement means the 2024 “fired” language should not be read as proof of a lasting separation. MMA Fighting reported the announcement on July 11, 2025.
At an October 2025 BKFC 82 promotional press conference, McGregor again warned Perry he could be gone if he did not perform. Their exchange was promotional and included disagreement about Perry’s title status and potential opponents; it does not provide further evidence about his pay for the Paul fight. MMA Fighting covered the exchange on October 2, 2025.
