Veneto regional president Luca Zaia gave that estimate to reporters in June 2025, according to Reuters. It is an estimate—not a confirmed final bill or an itemized account of what the couple paid.
What is the reported cost of the wedding?
Reuters reported on June 24, 2025, that Zaia estimated the celebrations would cost €40 million to €48 million. Reuters rendered that range as approximately $46.5 million to $55.6 million. The euro figure is the clearest way to state the estimate; the dollar amount is Reuters’s approximate conversion, not a separate accounting of the event’s expenses.
Was that the final amount Bezos and Sánchez paid?
There is no official final expense statement or itemized public account in the reporting cited here. The figure should therefore be described as Zaia’s reported estimate for the celebrations, not as a verified amount the couple paid. The Associated Press’s June 28 post-event coverage repeated the estimate rather than reporting a final bill.
The available coverage does not establish exactly which expenses Zaia’s estimate included. It does not provide a breakdown for venues, travel, security, food, entertainment, or other costs, so those categories cannot be assigned amounts from the reported total.

Why do reports give different dollar amounts?
Reuters’s approximate conversion of the €40 million–€48 million estimate was $46.5 million–$55.6 million. CBS News, in June 2025 coverage attributing its account to Zaia via The Globe and Mail, gave $64 million–$76 million for the same euro range. These are inconsistent dollar renderings of one reported euro estimate, not evidence of two different confirmed wedding totals. For a clear comparison, use the euro range and identify any dollar conversion by its source.
What did the estimate cover?
Reuters described three days of celebrations for around 200–250 guests. The Associated Press’s June 14 pre-event report described a three-day late-June event for about 200 invited guests. The different guest figures reflect the outlets’ descriptions; neither is an itemized attendance or expense record.

AP also reported, citing people close to the couple, that about 80% of provisions were expected to come from Venetian vendors. It identified local pastry business Rosa Salva and glass and design studio Laguna B among businesses involved in the celebration’s Venetian artisanal elements. That sourcing detail provides context, but it does not show how much was spent with those businesses or how much of the total went to local suppliers.

That benchmark helps convey the scale of the reported Venice estimate, but it is not a like-for-like comparison: the wedding estimate concerns a particular multi-day destination celebration, and its included expenses are not itemized. The U.S. average is a national comparison figure, not an estimate for a similar event.
