The exact amount Chelsea paid Raheem Sterling during the 2025/26 season has not been disclosed. His reported contract wage was £325,000 a week, but Chelsea ended his contract by mutual agreement in January 2026, and the club did not publish the size of his settlement. The weekly figure is not his confirmed season total.
What is known about Sterling’s Chelsea pay?
BBC Sport reported in January 2026 that Sterling was earning £325,000 per week and had 18 months left on his contract. The figure is a reported contract wage, not a published payroll record or a confirmed total paid during the season. BBC Sport’s report also says he received a payout when the agreement ended, but does not disclose its amount.
| Figure | What it means |
|---|---|
| £325,000 per week | Reported contract wage, according to BBC Sport in January 2026; not the confirmed amount paid in 2025/26. |
| £16.9 million per year | Annualized estimate in FBref’s 2025/26 wage table, which credits Capology; not an audited payment or season total. FBref wage table. |
| Exact 2025/26 amount paid | Not publicly established in the sources reviewed; Chelsea did not disclose the settlement amount. |
Why the annual wage estimate is not his 2025/26 total
Multiplying the reported £325,000 weekly rate by 52 gives roughly £16.9 million, the annualized figure shown in the wage table. That calculation describes a full-year rate; it does not show how much Sterling actually received during a season in which his contract ended in January. It also does not reveal the termination payout.
What happened to Sterling’s contract in January?
Chelsea announced on 28 January 2026 that Sterling had departed by mutual agreement, ending three and a half seasons at the club. Its statement confirmed the departure but gave no financial terms. Chelsea’s announcement.

BBC Sport reported that Sterling received a payout under the agreement. It said the settlement was less than the more than £20 million he would have earned over the remaining 18 months of his contract. That comparison describes the unexpired contract value he would have received if he had stayed; it is not the settlement amount.
