Apple reportedly committed nearly $250 million to F1 The Movie, according to Wall Street Journal reporting summarized by Mint. That is a reported spending commitment—not an audited public cost breakdown or proof of Apple’s final net cost.
What does the roughly $250 million figure mean?
Mint’s 2025 summary of Wall Street Journal reporting said Apple agreed to spend nearly $250 million on the film, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The figure is best described as a reported Apple commitment. The public account does not itemize what it covers or establish the final amount Apple paid.

That distinction matters: a commitment attributed to Apple, an estimate of the film’s production budget, and marketing or distribution costs are not necessarily the same measure. The available reporting does not provide a complete cost ledger.
Why are there other budget estimates?
Associated Press reporting in 2025 described the production budget as more than $200 million. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer separately said the budget was “substantially lower” than the circulating $300 million figure, without giving a definitive number. He told AP: “It’s expensive, don’t get me wrong. It’s an expensive movie. But it was substantially lower than that number.”

These statements offer context, not a precise final production cost. “More than $200 million” is a lower-bound description, while Bruckheimer’s comment rejects the $300 million figure as too high without replacing it with an exact total.
How do the spending and box-office figures compare?
| Figure | What it measures | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Nearly $250 million | Apple spending commitment reported by the Wall Street Journal and summarized by Mint in 2025, based on people familiar with the matter. | An audited final cost, a fully itemized budget, or Apple’s net cost. |
| More than $200 million | Production-budget description in Associated Press reporting in 2025. | A precise final production total or all-in spending including other costs. |
| More than $629 million | Global box-office receipts reported by Apple TV Press in October 2025; Apple’s film page later described receipts above $630 million. | Apple’s net revenue, its share of theatrical receipts, or profit. |
Gross box office is not the same as money received by Apple. The sources do not establish the film’s complete revenue-sharing terms, marketing costs, or net profit, so subtracting the reported commitment from box-office receipts would not produce a reliable profit estimate.

Bruckheimer told the Associated Press that six cars were built for production. That detail helps explain the scale of the project, but it does not permit a reliable estimate of car-related spending or the film’s total cost.
