Why the accounts figures are higher
The £1.23 million estimate concerns player wages, while wages and salaries and total staff costs are accounting measures with wider coverage. They answer different questions, so the £1.39 million and £1.58 million weekly equivalents should not be described as Burnley’s first-team player wage bill.
Burnley’s official summary for the financial year ended 31 July 2025 reports turnover of £71.7 million, down from £133.6 million, attributing the fall to the club’s Championship status and lower broadcasting distributions.
