What was Walmart’s reported trading-card limit?
PokéBeach reported on November 4, 2025, that an employee notice in Walmart’s backend system set a limit of five packs and/or boxes of trading cards per customer visit, including online purchases, effective November 5, 2025. The wording concerns packs and boxes; it does not say that shoppers could buy only five individual cards.
The notice referred to “Trading Cards,” rather than Pokémon alone. Pokémon TCG packs and boxed products fall within the subject of the report, but the reported limit was not described as a Pokémon-only policy. PokéBeach’s report is the source for the policy details and the Walmart statement; it attributes the notice to an employee backend system, not a separately located public Walmart announcement.
Why did Walmart say it was imposing the cap?
As quoted by PokéBeach, Walmart said: “We are introducing this limit to make sure all fans and collectors have a fair opportunity to enjoy Trading Cards. Our goal is popular items available to as many customers as possible and to maintain a safe and positive shopping environment for everyone.”

That is the retailer’s stated rationale, not evidence that the restriction improved access or reduced bulk buying. The sources do not report a measured effect of the limit on card availability.
Is the five-item limit still active everywhere?
The 2025 report establishes the announced start date and scope, but it does not verify consistent enforcement at every Walmart location or on every online listing in October 2026. Walmart’s general online quantity-limits policy says the retailer reserves the right to limit quantities per person, household, or order. That confirms Walmart’s general discretion to restrict purchases; it does not confirm that this particular five-item cap remains active across all stores and listings.

For a current purchase, look for a quantity restriction on the item’s Walmart listing, or contact the local store about its in-person policy. A limit shown on one product or at one location should not be assumed to apply identically to every Pokémon item or Walmart.

High demand has affected availability beyond Walmart. In a May 26, 2026 update, The Pokémon Company said it was maximizing production and continuing reprints of impacted Pokémon TCG products for participating retailers. Walmart’s trading-card category lists Pokémon products alongside other trading cards and a supplies-and-accessories section. That confirms the product category, not current stock or a particular purchase limit on any item.
