It depends on what you mean by a Cash App transaction. A payment from one Cash App user to another is described as instant. Moving money from your Cash App balance to a linked bank account is a separate transfer: the free standard option typically takes 1–3 business days, while the paid instant option is typically available within minutes. These are estimates, not guaranteed delivery times.
How long does a Cash App payment take?
For a personal payment between Cash App accounts, Cash App says money moves instantly. That is different from withdrawing your balance to a bank, which follows the bank-transfer timing below. Cash App’s U.S. Terms of Service state that a standard transfer to a linked account is typically available in 1–3 business days.
Business days generally exclude weekends and bank holidays, so a transfer started late in the week or around a holiday may take longer in calendar days. Cash App describes these timeframes as typical, not a promise that funds will arrive by a particular hour or date.
How long does it take to transfer Cash App money to a bank?
Cash App offers two withdrawal speeds. The option you select determines the estimate and whether a fee applies.

Cash App’s official pages do not all show the same instant-transfer fee range. Its U.S. terms and fees page list 0.5%–2.5%, with a $0.25–$1 minimum and $75 maximum; its May 2026 help guide and send page list 0.5%–1.75%, with a $0.25 minimum. Because the published figures conflict, the current fee displayed for your transfer in Cash App is the useful amount to rely on. See the U.S. terms, official fees information, and send page.
For a bank withdrawal, check the estimate Cash App displays when you choose a transfer option. The time can also depend on the receiving financial institution; the published windows do not guarantee processing by every bank.

What to do if a Cash App payment isn’t showing up
If you expected money from another Cash App user, check the transaction in the app before assuming it was lost. Cash App’s May 1, 2026 help guide recommends these checks:
- Open the Activity tab. Look for the payment and see whether it is marked pending. A pending payment may require you to accept it.
- Confirm the recipient details. Ask the sender to verify they used your correct $cashtag, phone number, or email address.
- Check for verification prompts. Complete any identity-verification steps Cash App requests.
- Try basic app and connection fixes. Update Cash App, check your internet connection, then sign out and back in if needed.
If the missing transaction is a bank withdrawal rather than a payment between users, check whether you chose standard or instant transfer and compare the status and estimate in the app. A standard transfer’s typical window is 1–3 business days; an instant transfer is typically available within minutes.

Can you cancel or recover a Cash App payment?
Whether Cash App can stop or cancel a peer-to-peer payment depends on how it was initiated and whether processing has begun. A completed payment cannot be reversed through Cash App, according to its help guide; if you sent money to the wrong person, ask the recipient to return it. Recovery is not guaranteed.
Under Cash App’s U.S. terms, an unclaimed peer-to-peer payment is automatically canceled after 15 days from when processing begins. That rule concerns unclaimed payments; it does not mean a completed payment can be canceled within 15 days.

Why the transaction type matters
“Cash App transaction” can mean different things. The instant timing applies to transfers between Cash App users; the 1–3-business-day and within-minutes estimates apply to withdrawals from a Cash App balance to a linked bank account. These estimates do not establish a delivery time for merchant payments, direct deposits, or international transfers.
