Yes. Leyton Orient is due a share of the profit Swansea City made when it sold Ethan Galbraith to Stoke City in July 2026, according to BBC Sport Wales. The sell-on percentage, the precise calculation and Orient’s eventual payment have not been disclosed, so a specific windfall cannot be calculated from the public figures.
How the transfers unfolded
- Orient to Swansea, 4 July 2025: Swansea announced Galbraith’s move for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract with a further 12-month option. BBC Sport reported the fee was understood to be about £1.5m; that was a reported estimate, not an officially confirmed figure. Swansea said Galbraith had six goals and seven assists for Orient in the 2024–25 campaign. Swansea’s announcement also recorded his campaign contribution.
- Swansea to Stoke, 1 July 2026: BBC Sport described Stoke’s fee as eight figures, including potential add-ons. That description does not establish how much was guaranteed or paid up front. BBC Sport reported Galbraith’s Stoke contract runs through the end of the 2030–31 season.
Why Orient could receive money
BBC Sport Wales reported that Swansea’s deal with Orient included a sell-on clause entitling Orient to a slice of Swansea’s profit on the later sale. This is different from receiving a stated percentage of Stoke’s entire fee: the reporting describes Orient’s share as a portion of Swansea’s profit, and does not publish the clause’s formula.

For that reason, subtracting the reported £1.5m original fee from Stoke’s eight-figure fee would not establish Orient’s payment. The first amount is an estimate, the second includes potential add-ons, and the sell-on calculation itself is not public. Other terms or costs affecting Swansea’s profit are also not specified in the reporting.
How much will Leyton Orient get?
No precise amount can be responsibly stated from the reported information. BBC Sport Wales’ sell-on reporting, republished by AOL, confirms Orient’s entitlement to a share but does not disclose the percentage, calculation details or eventual receipt. Until those terms or the payment are reported, any figure for Orient’s proceeds would be speculation.

What Swansea said about Galbraith
Before his move to Stoke, Swansea head coach Vítor Matos said on 1 April 2026: “I think he’s a player we want to see in Swansea for the next 10 years, so let’s see how long we can sign the contract.” BBC Sport reported the comment. Galbraith subsequently left Swansea for Stoke in July 2026.
