KFC says it uses customer feedback to guide menu testing, respond to fan requests and improve parts of the restaurant experience. But the public examples are broader than formal survey results: they include social-media comments, petition signatures, local-market tests and customer-satisfaction scores. KFC has not published the questionnaire or methodology behind its own satisfaction measures, so its examples show how the company says it listens—not independent proof that feedback alone caused a particular change.
How does KFC turn customer feedback into changes?
KFC’s public examples suggest a sequence: collect input through customer touchpoints, identify ideas or recurring concerns, test potential changes, make decisions for specific markets and monitor the experience. This is a synthesis of KFC’s published examples, not a documented standard process. The company has not disclosed survey response rates, decision thresholds or a complete account of how it analyzes feedback.

Listening across digital and restaurant touchpoints
KFC says it is using “data-driven listening and automation” to incorporate feedback in real time, particularly in connection with digital ordering and restaurant operations. Its ambitions page also describes work to optimize the drive-thru around speed, accuracy and customer experience. These are company-stated priorities; KFC does not identify every input as a survey or publish before-and-after service metrics showing the effect of this work.
Testing menu ideas before wider decisions
KFC says testing menu items and evaluating customer feedback are part of its food-innovation approach. For its 2021 chicken-sandwich launch, the company described an Orlando market test and detailed product development: the team tested eight pickle-thickness variations and worked with six bakeries on more than ten bun recipes. Those figures describe product development, not survey findings. KFC marketing chief Andrea Zahumensky said the Orlando test nearly doubled the company’s sales expectations, but that is a company-reported sales result—not evidence that a survey caused the launch or its performance. What menu changes has KFC linked to customer demand?
Potato wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings in the U.S.
In August 2025, KFC announced that potato wedges and Hot & Spicy Wings would return to U.S. restaurants starting August 18, subject to supply. The company said requests for wedges included thousands of social-media comments and petition signatures, and pointed to a surprise Tampa-area wedge release that sold out early in some restaurants. KFC did not describe those signals as survey results or provide an audited count.
KFC U.S. President Catherine Tan-Gillespie characterized the return as a response to fans: “This isn’t just a nostalgic nod. It’s an example of how we’re turning feedback into action as we chart our Kentucky Fried Comeback, a bold, brand-wide rally to give people more reasons to fall in love with us all over again.” The announcement documents KFC’s stated rationale; it does not establish how much each type of input influenced the decision. Menu plans vary by market
KFC’s June 15, 2026 global announcement described a broader menu and restaurant direction, including a global lineup of more than 20 sauces, a beverage platform called KWENCH, and new restaurant designs planned for Texas and Dubai. KFC said the initial rollout would start in the UK and Ireland, with expansion expected in Australia and the U.S. and additional markets during 2026. These are plans and market details published on that date, not confirmation of present availability in every location. Check local KFC listings for current menus. (KFC’s global announcement)
What does KFC say about service improvements and satisfaction?
KFC frames experience management as including both customer and employee experience. A recap of its 2023 Global Operations Summit describes collecting information and acting on insights, and identifies Qualtrics as a listening partner. Together with the company’s stated focus on digital ordering and drive-thru operations, this supports a picture of feedback being used beyond menu development. The summit recap does not document a specific service change caused by survey responses or quantify an improvement in speed, accuracy or satisfaction. (KFC’s summit recap)

In its July 2025 U.S. comeback announcement, KFC said operational improvements had driven better taste and customer-satisfaction scores. It did not provide score values, survey wording, sample size, comparison dates or a causal analysis. Tan-Gillespie said: “By listening to our customers and addressing feedback, we’ll reclaim our rightful place in the fried chicken game we started.” That is the company’s stated ambition, not a published measurement of how much scores changed or proof that customer feedback alone produced the result. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are KFC’s published survey results enough to verify the impact?
Not on their own. The public sources do not provide KFC’s survey questionnaire, sampling design, response rate or analysis method for its satisfaction measures. They also do not publish the numerical satisfaction results cited in 2025. A reader can distinguish between what KFC says it did—such as testing a sandwich or responding to fan requests—and whether those actions measurably improved customer experience. The announcements establish the former; the evidence provided does not establish the latter independently.

One specifically identified survey in KFC’s public material is not a survey of KFC customers or its own feedback program. In an October 2020 release, KFC reported results from a DoorDash survey of 1,000 U.S. adults who ate chicken. DKC Analytics conducted and analyzed it using the Pollfish survey-delivery platform; respondents were surveyed August 20–21, 2020. KFC reported that 75% said a meal was ruined if sauces were forgotten, and 20% said sauce was the single most important part of a great fried-chicken meal. These are dated third-party survey findings about sauce preferences, with the stated sample limitation—not evidence that KFC used them to make a menu change. (KFC’s report of the DoorDash survey)
