Third-party estimates put Jack Clarke’s wages at about £25,000 a week at Ipswich Town in 2024–25, compared with £16,923 a week at Sunderland in 2023–24. That is an estimated increase of £8,077 a week, or roughly 48%—not a change confirmed by either club or a disclosed contractual salary.
Estimated wages at Sunderland and Ipswich Town
| Club and season | Estimated weekly wage | Annualized estimate | Source qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunderland, 2023–24 | £16,923 | £880,000 | Capology estimate reported by Sunderland AFC News in 2024; not an official disclosure. Source |
| Ipswich Town, 2024–25 | £25,000 | £1,300,000 | Capology data reproduced by FBref and marked “Unverified estimation.” Source |
| Difference between the estimates | £8,077 | £420,000 | Calculated from the two published estimates; approximately 48% above the Sunderland estimate. Ipswich figure; Sunderland figure |
The annual figures are weekly estimates multiplied by 52. They are arithmetic comparisons across two different seasons, not proof of the cash Clarke received over a particular contract year.
What the figures do—and do not—show
The estimates suggest Clarke’s reported weekly wage was higher at Ipswich than at Sunderland. They do not establish his exact contractual pay, that the entire difference was guaranteed basic salary, or that he received any particular bonus. Capology says its salary figures are estimates and that fixed-salary estimates exclude bonuses. Capology salary methodology
Third-party figures are not consistent: Salary Sport listed a separate Sunderland 2023–24 estimate of £15,000 a week, while another SalaryLeaks result paired £16,923 weekly with £880,000 annually. The latter annual figure is approximately 52 weeks at the stated weekly rate. These differences are a reason to treat the numbers as estimates, not to average providers or present a single amount as confirmed.

When Clarke joined Ipswich
Ipswich announced Clarke’s signing on 24 August 2024, describing the then-23-year-old winger as joining Sunderland on a five-year contract. The Premier League report of the signing said he had made 114 appearances and scored 28 goals for Sunderland. Ipswich announcement and Premier League report
BBC Sport reported that the agreed transfer fee was £15 million initially, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons. That fee is paid between clubs and is separate from a player’s wages; it cannot be used to verify or calculate Clarke’s salary. BBC Sport
