Announced September 10, 2026, the lender-facing tool combines Sierra’s Horizon platform with Figure’s loan origination system. Figure reported higher progression and funding rates in an early analysis, but the release provides too little methodological detail to establish that the agent caused those gains or that other lenders would see the same results.
What Figure announced
Figure Technology Solutions said it partnered with Sierra to build an AI agent for its home-equity lending workflow. The agent uses Sierra’s Horizon platform, is trained by Figure, and is integrated natively into Figure’s loan origination system (LOS). Figure described the deployment as Horizon’s first U.S. use. This is an enterprise tool for lenders—not a consumer AI assistant for choosing or applying for a mortgage.

The target is applicants whose home-equity applications have stalled. The agent contacts them by voice and SMS and can follow up autonomously over multiple days. Figure says it handles routine points of friction such as getting permission for a credit check, identity verification, and linking a bank account. It then transfers the applicant to a loan officer to finalize the loan. The announcement does not describe the agent as approving or funding loans on its own.

Figure said its performance data analysis, conducted in July 2026, found stronger outcomes among applicants who interacted with the agent. The company reported the following results in its September 10 announcement:
#1 Best Overall
| Reported measure | Figure’s reported result | Comparison or context |
|---|---|---|
| Progress through individual friction stages | 30–52% higher rates | Applicants who interacted with the agent versus those who did not |
| Loan volume funded | 67% more | Borrowers who engaged with the agent, with or without loan-officer assistance, versus borrowers who did not engage |
| Funded-loan conversion | 143% lift | Agent combined with loan officers versus loan officers operating alone |
These are Figure-reported early results, not independently validated findings in the announcement. Figure did not provide sample size, detailed methodology, how comparison groups were constructed, or confidence intervals. The figures therefore show an association in Figure’s analysis; they do not establish that the agent caused the difference or predict results at another lender.
Figure also cited an average HELOC closing pull-through rate of 49% in 2024, attributing it to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s 2025 Home Equity Lending Study. That market statistic is separate from Figure’s pilot analysis. The announcement also put nationwide HELOC volume at $271 billion in 2025 and U.S. homeowners’ equity at $35 trillion, but did not identify the original publisher of either estimate; it also gave no measurement date for the equity figure.

How an AI follow-up agent could help with abandoned applications
HELOC applications can stall when a borrower has not completed a required step or needs to respond to a request. Figure’s described approach uses repeated outreach over two channels to prompt action on specific tasks, then hands the borrower to a loan officer for completion. In principle, that may help recover applications that would otherwise remain inactive. The announcement does not establish which task, message, or channel accounts for the reported results, or whether the approach reduces abandonment for lenders beyond Figure.

The handoff matters: the agent is positioned as support for loan officers, not a replacement for them. Figure CEO Michael Tannenbaum called the approach “human-agent synergy” and said it was intended to improve partners’ revenue outcomes. That is the company’s stated rationale, rather than independent evidence of impact.

Availability and what lenders should verify
In its September 10, 2026 release, Figure said it planned to make the integration available to network partners “over the coming months.” That describes the plan announced at that time, not confirmation that access is available now. Lenders considering a similar system should verify deployment status directly with the companies.
The release gives no pricing, referral or reseller terms, and no details about implementation requirements or data handling. A lender evaluating this kind of agent would need to establish those terms and assess whether its own workflow, borrower communications, escalation rules, and outcome tracking support a fair comparison with existing follow-up practices.
