The service became effective on 1 December 2025. A postman or Gramin Dak Sevak can verify the required details and help complete Aadhaar-based face or biometric authentication; pensioners may also visit a nearby post office.
Who can use the EPFO–IPPB doorstep service?
The arrangement is for EPS pensioners whose Digital Life Certificate is due, or will be due within 30 days, according to EPFO’s circular. It is intended to help pensioners who find it difficult to travel to a bank, post office or EPFO office. EPFO’s circular sets out the scope for the EPFO-specific rollout.
IPPB also offers a general DLC service for pensioners whose pension-disbursing agency is live for DLC. That broader description is not the eligibility rule for the EPFO–IPPB EPS arrangement. IPPB’s service page describes its general service.
How to request the certificate at home
- Request assistance: Contact IPPB through its current official contact page or ask at your nearest post office about a doorstep visit. EPFO’s announcement says pensioners can also visit the nearest post office. IPPB contact details are available on its website.
- Meet the postal worker: A postman or Gramin Dak Sevak can visit your residence and verify the required details.
- Complete authentication: The worker assists with Aadhaar-based face authentication or biometric authentication so the DLC can be generated.
The MoU was reported by the Ministry of Labour & Employment on 3 November 2025. The doorstep arrangement took effect on 1 December 2025, and the Ministry announced its launch on 28 January 2026. These are three distinct milestones, not competing start dates.

What to have ready
IPPB’s general DLC checklist says pensioners should have the following information available. The January 2026 announcement for the EPFO doorstep visit says staff will verify required details, but does not guarantee that this general list is exhaustive for every visit.
- Aadhaar number and an existing mobile number
- Confirmation that Aadhaar has already been registered with the pension-disbursing agency
- Pension details: pension type, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, PPO number and pension account number
IPPB describes its general DLC process as paperless. The official information does not establish that pensioners need to buy a smartphone, biometric reader, scanner, form or guide for the assisted doorstep service.

Is the EPFO doorstep service free?
Yes. EPFO says the EPS doorstep service is free to pensioners and warns them not to pay anyone for it. Under EPFO’s circular, the central EPFO arrangement pays for successful DLCs under its procedure.
IPPB’s general DLC page separately lists a nominal charge of ₹70 per successful DLC, including GST/CESS. That general charge should not be treated as a fee for the EPFO-funded EPS doorstep rollout. A 2021 PIB release also mentioned a ₹70 fee for an earlier IPPB doorstep service; that historical figure does not set the charge for the current EPFO arrangement.

Contact details and practical cautions
The Ministry’s January 2026 announcement lists IPPB customer care as 033-22029000, while IPPB’s current service page displays 155299. Because the official sources differ, check IPPB’s current contact page or ask at the nearest post office, and verify the number before calling.
Generating a DLC does not by itself guarantee pension continuity: the certificate must still be processed and accepted under the applicable EPFO procedure. The PIB MoU announcement described the postal network as comprising more than 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh-plus postal service providers; those are figures stated in that 2025 announcement, not a current independently verified count.
