Epicor announced it on September 3, 2025, targeting manufacturers and other supply-chain businesses. The workflow could reduce manual inbox and spreadsheet work, but the available sources do not establish independently measured savings or accuracy.
How can AI automate RFQs and speed up supplier communications?
A request for quotation (RFQ) asks suppliers to quote prices and terms for specified parts or services. The work can become cumbersome when responses arrive in different email formats and attachments: procurement staff must find the relevant details, compare them, spot gaps, and decide whom to follow up with.
Epicor says Prism Business Communications is designed to handle parts of that process within its ERP workflow. The intended sequence is:
- Receive supplier responses: The agent scans incoming emails and attachments, so suppliers can reply through familiar email interactions rather than a separate portal or predefined template, according to Epicor.
- Extract quote information: It interprets details such as pricing, lead times, and part IDs in the context of Epicor ERP data.
- Organize and compare responses: Epicor describes comparison across multiple suppliers and parts, along with summaries and quote-status visibility.
- Identify follow-up: The agent is intended to surface missing or inconsistent information and suggest next steps, helping teams see which responses may need attention.
Epicor also says the system can provide metrics related to RFQ cycle time, supplier responsiveness, and engagement. Those are described product capabilities, not evidence that the agent has reduced cycle times or improved response rates by a measured amount.

Can Epicor Prism read supplier quote emails?
That is the workflow Epicor describes: Prism scans supplier emails and attachments and extracts quote details for review. CIO’s September 4, 2025 coverage likewise reported that the agent reads supplier emails and pulls out pricing, lead times, and part details for users to review through a conversational interface. CIO’s report covered the launch; it does not independently demonstrate operational results.
Because supplier replies may be incomplete or inconsistent, the useful distinction is between extraction and decision-making. Epicor says Prism can flag missing or inconsistent data and suggest follow-up, but the cited launch materials do not establish that every extracted value is correct or that a human review is unnecessary.

Who is it for, and where was it available?
Prism Business Communications is aimed at manufacturers and supply-chain businesses using Epicor Kinetic. Epicor’s September 3, 2025 product blog stated that it was available for Epicor Kinetic Cloud users in the United States and Canada at launch. Epicor’s launch release also described availability for Epicor Kinetic and native embedding in the Epicor Industry ERP Cloud experience.
These are launch-date statements, not confirmation of current eligibility. Organizations should verify availability for their Kinetic deployment, region, and configuration with Epicor before planning a rollout.

What does Epicor say about pricing?
Epicor marketed the product with outcomes-based pricing at launch. Its German-language release said users pay only for RFQs that convert to purchase orders. The cited material does not establish the price, how a conversion is defined for billing, or current contract terms; buyers should obtain those details directly from Epicor.
What evidence is available for its benefits?
Epicor’s launch announcement and product blog describe the product’s functions and intended benefits. The blog includes a named statement from Jason Bassett, IT Manager at Madsen’s Custom Cabinets, presented as an early adopter: “As someone who does many different tasks in the company, and gets pulled in different directions constantly, being prompted that items need attention and the detail of what is needed really helps get back on track.” This is a customer testimonial published by Epicor, not a controlled performance study.
The cited launch coverage and vendor materials do not provide an independently measured, product-specific figure for time saved, extraction accuracy, or RFQ-cycle improvement. Treat such outcomes as unverified until a vendor evaluation or a pilot using your own workflow supplies evidence.

Prism’s fit depends on more than whether it can read an email. When evaluating the product, ask Epicor and your implementation team about:

- Deployment compatibility: Confirm support for your specific Kinetic edition, cloud setup, and ERP configuration.
- Review and exception handling: Determine how users inspect extracted fields, correct errors, handle ambiguous replies, and resolve missing quote data.
- Comparison and visibility: Clarify how the system presents supplier and part comparisons, quote status, and suggested follow-up within your workflow.
- Regional availability: Verify that the product is currently offered for your location and deployment.
- Security and governance: Epicor’s blog describes Azure-based security, model-agnostic flexibility, and OWASP-guided safeguards as product attributes. These are vendor statements, not an independent security audit; request the documentation relevant to your organization’s requirements.
- Commercial terms: Get the current pricing schedule and written definitions for any outcome-based charges, including what counts as an RFQ converting to a purchase order.
A pilot using representative supplier emails, attachments, and exceptions can help establish whether the workflow fits your operation. Measure the results against your own baseline rather than assuming a general productivity gain.
