In June 2024, Dr Disrespect’s former studio ended its relationship with him, Turtle Beach said it would not continue its partnership, and YouTube suspended monetization on his channel. The Los Angeles Times also reported that the San Francisco 49ers and NBA 2K cut ties. These actions followed public allegations about messages involving a minor; they were not all sponsor decisions, and the underlying claims should be distinguished from what Guy Beahm, who streams as Dr Disrespect, acknowledged himself.
What happened, and when?
Beahm’s 2020 Twitch ban was not publicly explained at the time. In June 2024, former Twitch employees made allegations about messages involving a minor. Beahm later acknowledged exchanging Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017, while disputing some characterizations and denying that anything illegal happened. The sequence below separates those allegations, Beahm’s account, and organizations’ responses.

What did Beahm acknowledge?
In a June 25, 2024 post, Beahm said Twitch Whisper messages with a minor in 2017 occurred. He characterized them as “casual, mutual conversations that sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate,” denied that anything illegal happened, and said he accepted moral responsibility. The Washington Post quoted him saying: “Now from a moral standpoint, I’ll absolutely take responsibility.” Those are Beahm’s statements; they do not establish every characterization in the allegations. Midnight Society studio head Robert Bowling also published a personal statement: “If you inappropriately message a minor. I can not work with you.” Game Informer identified this as Bowling’s personal post, distinct from the studio’s official statement. (Game Informer)

What these responses do—and do not—show

It does not establish that every organization made a public statement, that all actions had the same contractual basis, or that the situation had a particular sponsorship or financial impact. The Washington Post reported that Twitch and YouTube had not responded to its June 25 requests for comment; YouTube later publicly suspended monetization, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
