Remove a card on PayPal’s website
- Sign in to PayPal and open Wallet.
- Select the debit or credit card you want to remove.
- Choose Remove card and follow any on-screen confirmation.

Remove a card in the PayPal app
- Open the PayPal app and tap Accounts.
- Select the card you want to remove.

App labels and placement can vary by region or app version; PayPal’s cited instructions are for the US.
Why you may not be able to remove a card
PayPal documents two situations that can block removal: the card has a pending transaction, or it was recently used as the backup payment method for a payment. PayPal recommends waiting a few days and trying again; it does not specify an exact waiting period.

If the removal option remains unavailable after that, check your account’s Help Center or contact PayPal support. PayPal’s public instructions do not establish every possible account-specific reason the control might be unavailable.
Removing a card does not necessarily cancel automatic payments
Removing a card and managing a merchant’s automatic payment are separate actions. PayPal says automatic payments associated with an old card are migrated when eligible card details are updated, but that guidance does not establish that removing a card cancels a subscription or merchant billing. If you are trying to stop a recurring charge, review the merchant’s billing arrangement and PayPal’s automatic-payment settings. PayPal’s card-update information
