You can set up an Amazon affiliate storefront only through Amazon’s approved Associates or Influencer registration process. The result is a curated Amazon page—often reached through a URL such as amazon.com/shop/handle—not an independent online shop. Amazon handles checkout, fulfillment, returns, and customer service; you recommend products and may earn commissions on qualifying activity.
That is different from placing ordinary Amazon Associates links on your own website or social profile. Choose the Amazon-hosted storefront if you want one public collection of recommendations, Idea Lists, and potentially shoppable content. Choose ordinary Associates links if you need direct product links inside articles, buying guides, or a fully controlled website. Many creators use both.

Amazon describes the Influencer Program as a customizable presence on Amazon with a vanity URL and curated recommendations (Amazon’s Influencer overview). Its April 14, 2026 policy update says completing registration provides access to a Storefront and a Unique Creator Link, although Amazon’s help pages and registration screens may still use overlapping Associates and Influencer terminology (April 14, 2026 policy update).
You are not the seller. Amazon’s ordering, pricing, customer-service, and sales policies apply, and customers remain Amazon’s customers (Operating Agreement). Product prices, sellers, stock, shipping, reviews, and availability can change after you publish a recommendation.

What to prepare before applying
- An Amazon account with accurate legal identity, address, tax, and payment information.
- At least one public website, social profile, app, or other approved property. List the exact URLs you will use.
- A clear audience and topic, such as home office, beauty, tools, cooking, fitness, or travel gear.
- Recent, original content that helps people; do not launch with a nearly empty page of links.
- A disclosure plan for your website, storefront, videos, and social posts.
- Content that does not copy Amazon descriptions or reviews, misuse trademarks, or imply an official Amazon endorsement.
Amazon says website applicants should generally have recent content and offers roughly 10 original posts as a useful review benchmark. For social accounts, it says a substantive organic audience is generally expected, often around 500 followers or likes. These are review guidelines, not guaranteed pass marks (Amazon’s application review process).
Registration is not the end of review. Amazon says it reviews an application after at least three qualifying sales within the first 180 days; personal orders do not count. The current agreement and registration flow control if requirements change.
How to register
- Open the Amazon Associates or Influencer registration page for the relevant marketplace.
- Sign in with the Amazon account you intend to use.
- Enter your legal identity, address, contact, payment, and tax details.
- Add every website, social profile, app, or other traffic source you plan to use.
- Describe your content, audience, traffic sources, and promotional methods accurately.
- Select the Store ID or tracking identifier requested by the form.
- Complete tax and payment setup.
- Accept the current Operating Agreement and program policies.
- If storefront access is provided, open the owner view and record your vanity URL or Unique Creator Link.
- Add new sites before sending affiliate traffic from them. Existing Associates users can use Account Settings → Edit your website list, add the URL, and complete the declaration (Amazon’s website-list instructions).
Amazon may separate registration, storefront access, affiliate-link eligibility, content moderation, and onsite-commission eligibility into different stages. Do not assume approval is instant or automatic.
Build the storefront
Set a useful profile
Use a recognizable name, an accurate description, and a profile image permitted by Amazon’s current interface. Explain who the recommendations are for and what problem they solve. Do not describe the page as an “official Amazon store” or imply Amazon sponsorship.

Create Idea Lists
Organize recommendations around how people shop rather than around random products. A practical starting structure is:

- Best overall: suitable choices for most of your audience.
- Budget picks: lower-cost alternatives without claiming they are the cheapest unless verified.
- Upgrades: premium or higher-spec options.
- By use case: travel, small spaces, beginners, professionals, gifts, or similar needs.
- Frequently used: products you genuinely use and can describe accurately.
- Seasonal: lists you will maintain as availability changes.
Add and maintain products
In owner view, open an Idea List, search for a product, and use the plus control. You can also open an Amazon product page, select Add to List, and choose the Idea List. Amazon says this works on desktop, mobile web, and the Amazon app (Idea List instructions).
Add a short, original explanation: who the item suits, important compatibility or size limits, and why it belongs in the list. Review lists regularly and remove unavailable, changed, or misleading variants. A large unrelated catalog is less useful than a small, maintained set of recommendations.
Use direct product links when appropriate
A storefront is ideal for a collection. If an article, video, or post discusses one exact item, link directly to that product page. Amazon says Influencer participants can still use tools such as Site Stripe and Product Links (direct product-link guidance).

- Use a tagged direct link when the reader needs the exact model or variant.
- Use the correct marketplace and tracking ID.
- Check that the link opens the relevant product detail page, not an unrelated page.
- Test links after publishing and periodically afterward.
Amazon requires Special Links to use approved tagged formats and restricts how Program Content is used or redirected (Participation Requirements).

Amazon also requires disclosures near relevant recommendations and links. Examples include “paid link,” #ad, and #CommissionsEarned (Amazon disclosure requirements).
- Put the required statement in a conspicuous footer, disclosure page, profile area, or other permitted location.
- Place plain-language notice beside product links, buttons, roundups, and social endorsements: “I may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page.”
- Make the notice visible before or alongside the endorsement, including on mobile.
- Do not hide it behind a generic “learn more” link.
- Follow broader advertising-law requirements as well; Amazon points creators to the FTC affiliate-disclosure guidance.
Promote the storefront safely
Amazon’s sharing guidance lists social profiles, websites, blogs, podcasts, and other creator channels (Amazon social-sharing guidance). Use the vanity URL where a collection is more useful than one product link:
- Instagram bio and relevant posts.
- YouTube channel descriptions and video descriptions.
- TikTok profile and content where link features permit.
- Twitch profile and relevant streams.
- Blog posts and buying guides.
- Podcast show notes or verbal mentions, subject to current rules.
Do not assume every channel is allowed for every Special Link. Amazon’s Participation Requirements specifically mention restrictions on offline promotion, including printed material, mailings, SMS/MMS, email, email attachments, and oral solicitation unless separately permitted. Check the current policy before using newsletters, texts, QR codes, or paid advertising to send people to Amazon.
Photos, videos, livestreams, and onsite earnings
These formats are optional layers, not prerequisites for every storefront. Active Influencer storefront owners may upload videos through Creator Hub or the storefront owner view using Add to your storefront → Videos (Amazon’s video-upload help).
Amazon says that after 10 approved videos and completion of onsite-commission signup, videos may become eligible for placement on relevant product-detail pages. Eligibility is not guaranteed; Amazon may select, moderate, remove, or stop displaying content. Onsite earnings are separate from commissions generated by traffic you send directly to Amazon (onsite-earnings guidance).

How commissions and attribution work
A visit or click does not guarantee payment. A purchase must satisfy Amazon’s current qualifying-purchase rules, and rates vary by category, marketplace, and applicable terms. Returns, cancellations, excluded purchases, policy violations, and other disqualifying events can reduce or eliminate commissions. Amazon makes no guarantee about traffic or income (Operating Agreement).

Amazon’s April 14, 2026 update added a 180-day completion rule: qualifying products must be shipped to, streamed or downloaded by, and paid for by the customer within that period (policy update). Check the current commission schedule and qualifying-purchase definitions before publishing claims about earnings.
Marketplace and country limits
An Associate tag is locale-specific. A U.S. tag does not automatically track every international Amazon sale. Separate marketplace registration or marketplace-specific arrangements may be required (Creators API onboarding).
Account for differences among amazon.com, amazon.ca, amazon.co.uk, and other regional sites. Prices, stock, shipping, commission schedules, legal requirements, and storefront availability can differ by country. Use international-linking tools only after checking the current rules.
Why applications are rejected or accounts are closed
Common application problems
- Too little original or recent content.
- A new, private, or inaccessible social account.
- A generic social-network URL instead of the exact profile URL.
- Copied descriptions, scraped reviews, or unauthorized images.
- Trademark misuse or misleading Amazon branding.
- No clear audience or editorial purpose.
- Missing disclosures or omitted traffic sources.
- Personal orders used to try to meet the qualifying-sale requirement.
Amazon may not reassess a rejected application, so treat the first submission as a compliance review rather than a casual trial (application review process).

Account-closure risks
- Buying through your own links or asking friends and family to create qualifying purchases.
- Offering incentives, rewards, or charitable appeals for clicks or purchases.
- Using Amazon logos or trademarks without permission.
- Altering Amazon-provided product content or copying customer reviews.
- Linking Program Content to irrelevant or non-Amazon destinations.
- Using prohibited software, malware, traffic interception, or deceptive redirects.
- Framing Amazon pages inside another site or app.
- Using prohibited paid or boosted traffic.
- Failing to keep your website and social-profile list current.

Troubleshoot common problems
The storefront option is missing
- Confirm you are signed into the intended Amazon identity and marketplace.
- Check that registration is complete and look in Associates Central for the Influencer or storefront area.
- Do not create a duplicate account before contacting Amazon support.
- Consider geography, account status, and current program availability.
Products will not add
- Confirm the product belongs to the correct marketplace.
- Search for the exact product page and try Add to List.
- Try desktop, mobile web, or the Amazon app.
- Check owner-view status, the selected Idea List, and whether the listing has changed.
Links show no earnings
- Confirm the marketplace tag and test the link in a neutral browser.
- Allow for reporting delay.
- Check for returns, cancellations, excluded purchases, prohibited traffic, or a later affiliate click.
- Verify that the transaction meets current qualifying-purchase rules.

For a social creator seeking one memorable destination, start with the storefront. For durable search traffic, detailed comparisons, and broader merchant choice, an external site may be worth the additional work. Add third-party publishing, link-in-bio, design, or email tools only when they solve a specific need, and check their tracking behavior and commercial terms against Amazon’s current policies.

Do I need a website to apply?
