Longtime friends and surfers Beau Lester and Marc Sputore opened Bronty’s in the former kiosk at South Trigg Beach, turning a familiar beach stop into a gathering place. Their path to the site took years: Lester said he had pursued it for 15 years before the pair won a council tender.
Who owns Bronty’s at South Trigg Beach?
Bronty’s was opened by Beau Lester and Marc Sputore, longtime friends who both surfed at South Trigg. In a report published by PerthNow on 11 January 2024, Lester said the two had known each other for 25 years.
The kiosk had been vacant before the cafe opened. It sits beside Surfing WA’s headquarters on the coast between Scarborough and Trigg, in a car park that Sputore said he had known since his teenage years. Their connection to the area made the venture personal as well as a business project.
How the pair secured the former kiosk
Lester said he first approached the council about leasing the site, then later put in a tender with Sputore. “I’ve been trying to get this site for 15 years,” he told PerthNow. He said they won by preparing a comprehensive proposal.

The owners described their goal as creating a social destination on the coast. Lester called it “another social hub on the coast,” while Sputore said they wanted to build a team of experienced baristas and deliver consistently good coffee.
Why it is called Bronty’s
The name refers to Bronte Beach in Sydney, which Lester said was one of his favourite beaches. He called the South Trigg location “Bronty’s Beach,” while recognising that its actual name is South Trigg Beach.

What Bronty’s offered when it opened
PerthNow reported in January 2024 that the cafe served coffee from Osborne Park roaster Dark Star, smoothies and grab-and-go food, with acai bowls planned. These are opening-period details, not confirmation of the current menu or supplier.

When PerthNow published its report on 11 January 2024, the cafe had been open for three and a half weeks. That suggests an opening around late December 2023, but the publication did not provide a separate confirmed opening date.
