Ariana Grande’s fragrance franchise passed $150 million in global retail sales during its first two years, according to partner LUXE Brands in 2017. Britney Spears’s fragrance line had sold more than 10 million bottles across three scents by 2006, according to Elizabeth Arden. Those are impressive business milestones—not disclosures of how much either celebrity personally earned. Neither source reports the star’s royalties or net proceeds.
What the reported perfume figures actually measure
The headline numbers for Grande and Spears describe different things, from different periods, and should not be compared as if they were the same measure.
| Fragrance business | Reported measure | Period and source | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ariana Grande | More than $150 million in global retail sales | LUXE Brands’ December 6, 2017 company release said the franchise exceeded this total during its first two years. Read the LUXE Brands announcement. | Grande’s personal income, royalties, or profit from those sales. |
| Britney Spears | More than 10 million bottles of three fragrances sold | Elizabeth Arden’s May 9, 2006 announcement said the bottles had sold since the launch of Curious in 2004. Read Elizabeth Arden’s announcement via Europa Press. | A current cumulative unit total, retail-dollar total, or Spears’s personal earnings. |
Retail sales are the amount products bring in at retail, not a celebrity’s take-home pay. The public figures above do not show the deductions or contractual terms needed to calculate that pay. Turning either total into a claim that the celebrity personally made the same amount would confuse product sales with individual earnings.
How do celebrity perfumes make money?
A celebrity fragrance is generally a branded product business, not simply a celebrity selling bottles and keeping the proceeds. The celebrity’s name and public profile help market a line; a fragrance partner may handle product creation, development, marketing, and sales under a licensing or partnership arrangement.

Elizabeth Arden’s SEC-filed material describes celebrity fragrances as licensed products and notes that demand depends partly on the celebrity’s appeal and reputation. Its fiscal 2013 filing reported that celebrity and designer fragrance brands together generated approximately 47% of the company’s net sales. That was a combined company-wide figure—not a Spears figure or the share of sales paid to her. See Elizabeth Arden’s filing.
The arrangement can generate significant retail sales while leaving the celebrity’s individual economics undisclosed. Without the contract, royalty rate, and applicable accounting details, public sales figures cannot establish a personal payout.

How much money did Ariana Grande make from her perfume?
The available figure answers how much Grande’s fragrance franchise generated in global retail sales—not how much Grande personally earned. LUXE Brands said in December 2017 that the franchise surpassed $150 million in retail sales in its first two years. Its announcement named Ari by Ariana Grande, Moonlight, and Sweet Like Candy among the fragrances in the franchise at that time; it is not a verified current catalog.
LUXE Brands CEO Joel B. Ronkin said in the release that the fragrance business continued to defy the trajectory of celebrity fragrances. That comment and the sales figure are company statements, not an audited disclosure of Grande’s income. No personal royalty or net-proceeds figure for Grande is established by the cited announcement.

How much did Britney Spears make from perfume sales?
Elizabeth Arden said in 2006 that more than 10 million bottles across three Spears fragrances had sold since Curious launched in 2004. The announcement names an early sales milestone, not a current lifetime total, and counts bottles rather than retail dollars. It does not reveal Spears’s personal earnings.
Elizabeth Arden’s filing later disclosed that its celebrity and designer fragrance brands collectively contributed approximately 47% of net sales in fiscal 2013. Because that figure groups many brands together, it cannot be used to calculate Spears’s share or compensation.

Who owns Britney Spears perfume now?
“Owns” can mean ownership of a trademark, responsibility for producing the line, or rights to sell it; the available announcement specifically describes the commercial partner’s role. Give Back Beauty said its partnership became effective January 1, 2025, and that it took charge of creating, developing, marketing, and globally selling Spears fragrances. The announcement followed a transition involving Revlon and the discontinuation of litigation between Give Back Beauty and Revlon. It does not provide a full account of trademark ownership or the contract’s financial terms.
Give Back Beauty said the fragrances were available in more than 85 countries, a company-stated distribution reach rather than an independent sales measure. Its announcement did not disclose a new sales total or a current product list. Read Give Back Beauty’s February 12, 2025 announcement.

Which fragrances do the historical announcements name?
The announcements offer examples of products associated with the lines, but they do not confirm current stock or marketplace availability.
- Ariana Grande: LUXE Brands’ 2017 release names Ari by Ariana Grande, Moonlight, and Sweet Like Candy.
- Britney Spears: Elizabeth Arden’s historical disclosures include Curious and Fantasy; its 2006 sales statement covered three fragrances, not a complete current catalog.
These names can help identify the products behind the reported milestones, but the dated announcements are not a guide to what is currently for sale.
What can—and can’t—be concluded about their fortunes
The evidence supports the conclusion that both celebrities were associated with substantial fragrance businesses: one partner reported a large retail-dollar milestone for Grande’s franchise, and Elizabeth Arden reported a significant early bottle count for Spears’s line. It does not support a precise personal-wealth claim. The cited public sources do not disclose either celebrity’s individual fragrance royalties, net proceeds, or a complete audited lifetime-sales total.
